Ok, so back in May I posted that I had gotten a teaching job MUCH closer to home (3 miles vs. 26 miles). I've commuted the last 4 days since we've started back up, and I'm in bike commuting heaven. This is AWESOME!!! Woo hoo!!!!
I am super blessed and lucky to have a shower at work (I have a bathroom in my office from when my area of the school used to be the convent for the nuns). I have brought all my things from home; hair dryer, make up, towels, etc and have made the little bathroom all mine. I'm the only one who uses it, so I have it all to myself (I know I'm VERY spoiled).
Anyway- school starts tomorrow and I'm excited for many reasons: new job as a librarian, close commute, GREAT school. I'm livin' the dream as much as possible without living in the great PNW. :p

I even left for work an hour early and took the long way to work to get in an extra long bike ride. What a joy!!!

I'm one of you now- regularly- and fully committed. Life is good! :)
Thanks for reading and sharing in my excitement. Although the ladies at work think I'm really studly (I try to tell them that 3 miles is NOTHING) and nobody else does it- I knew you'd understand.

That sounds like heaven, Tri-Girl. When I had to go from a 6.7 mile to a 14 mile commute one way, it seriously affected my attitude toward commuting! And I didn't have a shower, either.
I swear, when I finish my degree I will not take a job I can't ride to!

Today it was raining (I wouldn't mind riding in that) and lightning (nope- not gonna ride in that). I had to drive the stupid, enormous, lightning-proof car to work. Of course by the time I left school the sun was out and it was glorious. Tomorrow I shall ride again!! :)

Distance from my house to work - 3 miles one way.
Total miles per day I commute? - 20-24
It's all about finding longer routes to work! :D

Enjoy the ride, even the rain. It just gets better and better! bikerHen

That is a perfect commuter set-up! Last year that was mine without the shower. This year when my shoulder heals in about 3 to 4 months I will begin to commute. I also have a new job and now it is so extremely short like 6 blocks lol. I will have to add on just to have any miles. Have a great school year Tri-girl!

That's great, Twin (about the new job, not the hurt shoulder). 6 blocks- lol. I love it!! Are you still in Norman schools? I hope you, too, have a wonderful school year.

Aw man! I'm happy for you that you now have a good route and your own private shower...but knowing that your commute was longer than mine actually got me out of bed a few extra mornings. Now how am I going to motivate myself to ride 20 miles each way? :p

Seriously though, congrats on the sweet set up! Enjoy it twice as much as usual so that I can live vicariously through you, ok? :D

Will do, GLC! I only did my previous commute a handful of times. I didn't have that much time in the day to ride my bike (I wish I could just devote 5 hours a day to it). :D You're studly at 20 miles. I would do 20, but only because I know I could cut it short and head home in 3 if I wanted to. ;)
