Hey everyone, my name is Natasha, and I am a newbie from Connecticut. :o i am training for my first triathlon, the sprint distance women's tri from Title 9 in Massachusetts, which is on September 13th. I am overweight and out of shape, but training this summer has been one of the highlights of my life and I am really excited about the race. :D

I started a blog about my experience as a compulsive overeater and the misadventures of trying to get in shape, if anyone is interested, the address is http://theunlikelytriathlete.blogspot.com/

Thanks everyone! Great to be here!:)

And you will have fun, believe us!

Have you read Slow Fat Triathlete by Jayne Williams? She is a total hoot and the best guide to triathlon any newbie could have.

Have you read Slow Fat Triathlete by Jayne Williams? She is a total hoot and the best guide to triathlon any newbie could have.

I picked up Jayne's second book (Shape Up with the Slow Fat Triathlete) and it's a really fun read, too. It's really motivational. It makes me stop and think "what the heck is my problem, she's TOTALLY RIGHT" as I read. :) The bookstore didn't have her first book, but now I really want to go back and read it.

Welcome, Natasha. :)
I started out as a fit triathlete, but have since become unfit (lifestyle stress, overeating, etc). I enjoyed reading your blog. I hope you keep us updated on your progress along the way. We're glad to have you along for the journey.

Oh, and +3 on Jayne's book. I bought it a few years ago, sold it, and just recently purchased it again. I forgot what a great read it is! :)

I have read Jaynes book, it was what inspired me and now I am friends with her on facebook and have chatted with her a few times! I loooooove her book. :)

I am feeling a bit bruised because of some negative comments on my blog :(, but there have been some nice people who have stepped up and defended me. Haha.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me, I hope to chat with you some more soon!

Good luck on your first tri! Just remember all that matters is that you have fun. I started out unfit like you and am amazed at the transformation I have made. Just listen to your body and you will do fine.

There are some crazy people out there. Maybe you should forget the blog... keep a journal and use the people here on TE for your positive feedback.
