I dropped in the forum a couple of months ago...Since then, I have gone through 2 hybrid bikes, lost 30 lbs and I am now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first road bike. I knew I should have gotten the rode bike to begin with, oh well....Now I am like a kid on Christmas Eve, I can't sleep because my bike should be in/ready tomorrow!! She's a Jamis Ventura Race Femme...

What a nice bike! I ALMOST bought a hybrid for the MS-150 and my husband did the research and insisted I get a road bike. I am glad that I did in the end!

Congrats on the weight loss! Do you mind sharing the secret to your weight loss success? I have been doing Weight Watchers and it is coming along slowly.

Well, last year, I trained for the Breast Cancer 3 Day...I walked, seriously, about 1200 miles training for the big event (60miles in 3days) Did I loose weight...nooooo, I guess my body is now extremely efficient at walking.

I started biking because obviously walking wasn't cutting it. I was really really starting to enjoy it, and the weight started coming off. I can't say that I cut anything out of my diet because I eat pretty clean to begin with, but I did quit matching hubs plate for plate, LOL!

Thanks so much!! I still love my new bike. I've been tweaking it this weekend. I put a 75mm stem on instead of the 90mm that it came with and turned the handle bars up a bit. I've rode twice around the lake (about 10 miles each) and around the neighborhood.

I hope my story is similar to yours. I've been biking a month and lost 15 lbs. I initially started out with a Trek 7.2 hybrid but when I worked up to 14 miles in a single ride my wrists hurt so bad. I couldn't drive for a couple of days because of the pain in my wrists. The bike shop was kind enough to let me trade it in for a road bike and I've been so much happier. The road bike was double the money but worth it. I can constantly change hand positions which really helps. I think the wrist pain was mostly due to me being so out of shape with such a weak core in combination with me being overweight. When the rainy season hits I'm joining a gym to do spin classes and work on my core strength. Next summer I want to be FIT.

Hey Mary!

I'm crewing 4 Breast Cancer 3 Days this year - on the BIKE Route Safety Crew! Denver, Atlanta, Tampa and DC. So, if you want to keep on the bike but still help out the walks, look into this crew!

Sweet bike!

I got myself a Jamis Ventura Elite, I named it Roulette because it's red/black and "born" in Las Vegas.

Enjoy your rides together!! :-)

Pedal Wench...

I crewed two years before I walked and I am signed up to crew again this year...I did request the bike crew, but we haven't got our assignments as of yet. That is another reason I am trying to get my miles up...
