I'll kick off today's thread by crowing that I logged my 1500th bike mile for the year this morning! I rode 27 miles at dawn on one my favorite quiet backroads outside of town. Felt slow and tired the whole time, but really wanted to make the milestone so I just kept going till I did! Yeehaw! :D:D:D

wow that's awesome!! Congrats on the miles!!
I did 6.27 miles today. It was cool (which was a first) no wind (also never happens) so this trip I have been doing with a nice wind at my back on the way home was a little tougher today lol.

I did 40 miles today...according to my Garmin, I averaged 27.7mph and burned 65,287 calories (Yes, I burned 22 pounds on this ride!) I am feeling svelte and dropped two sizes in blue jeans.
It's a shame that the Garmin clearly burped (for the first time) and powered down at a bump clearly distorting the results.
According to my riding buddy, we averaged 17.7mph;)

I'm in Emerald Ilse, North Carolina for the week and today DH and I took my dad's hybrids (the one I rode is ancient :p) down the local bike path for about 15 miles. He rides slow. My heart rate never got above 115. But the beach and the people and the just being out with DH made it one of the best rides I've done to date. It's fun to ride just for the sheer joy of riding and not for time, distance or speed.
Nice way to bring in my 45th birthday!! :D

I did a brick workout this morning--rode 16 miles and then ran 4. Not the funnest experience due to the insane humidity, but I stayed strong throughout. I averaged 22 mph, and completed my run in 31 minutes.
I think I'll be glad to just cycle tomorrow ;) As much as I love running, I've really enjoyed cycling so much more lately.

One time, my Garmin told me I hit a max speed of 350 mph.
Faster than a speeding bullet, I say!
Today was a "big chainring" commute. Except for hills (and when I forgot ), I tried to keep the bike in the big chainring the whole way. I even stayed out of the granny on that first hill in the morning. Now....If I could just work on "Big chainring and faster cadence" I'd be all set, and I'd get my average out of the 13 mph doldrums. But...I do enjoy just puttering - especially on the way home with plenty of daylight still available. Watchin' the birds....driftin' along.......

Today was a bike commute day. Hot and humid but otherwise nice. I managed to stand on part of one hill and stay off the small chain ring. I usually sit and spin so this was a bit of a breakthrough.

10 miles for me tonight; I would have liked a longer ride. Days are noticeably shortening. :(

I took a day off from work today. I had a nice ride late morning - 25.5 miles. It was more pleasant than yesterday since it wasn't as hot and humid and there was a really nice breeze. I was almost in front of my home when I did a U-turn and went to the LBS and bought a bike! Although I've been thinking about it for a few weeks, it was totally spur of the moment. Some of you may remember that I bought a Madone 5.2 WSD in late March. I am in love with it! But since I use it almost every single day as my commuting bike and do longer rides on the weekends, I feel as if I am beating it into the ground and it deserves better than that. It has over 2,500 miles on it - in 4 months. The bike that I had been using for over a year (as my commuter) is a Trek 2300 but it doesn't fit me at all. Yes, silly me! :p It took a new bike for me to realize that I was screwing up my body. Anyway...I talked to a few of the guys at the shop about my choices. I wanted to stay with the Trek WSD since it fits me perfectly. I went with a Madone 4.5 WSD. Someone please take my debit card away from me. My initial feeling is always happiness...then guilt...and then I end up rationalizing and coming to the conclusion that I am saving money on parking and gas, wear and tear on my car and by commuting every day, I am being green and being healthy.

Ha ha ha... well, according to my Garmin on one of my last rides it shows my HR "flat lined" in my graph. Hmm... in the ER a "flat line" is an indication of death. Maybe the Garmin was really right since I felt like I was going to *die* on that particular hill!?!?
My ride today was just inside teaching my Spin class. Fun and tough--we did a "race day". While my roadie steed got a new bottom bracket from her owner's mishap cleaning procedure... needed from rainy w/e ride previously--see flat line comment. But... I really wasn't trying to kill my bike.:o

Haven't ridden in wee hours of the morning for eons it seems. Today went out for easy ride whilst most people were still sleeping.
The quiet road, smell of the ocean, bit of ocean fog. It was very pleasant and tranquil. I need to do this more often.
On the way back home, saw two ladies riding their bike for exercise. Neither in cycling cloth, shorts, T-shirt... and both were riding Colnagos. How nice. Did complement them on their beautiful bike. You know, the paint jobs on Colnago is superb and oh so pretty. I hope they keep it up.
I think I'm going to do that again tomorrow. And jsut lounge around the house forget about work.:D

Did my usual 42 kms. which was lovely today since it rained yesterday. My back light strangely, fell off the bike onto sidewalk with a bang. Didn't know that a bracket mount would weaken.
Later....4 kms. later...I discovered my front tire became flat. Fortunately I was only 2 blocks away from a bike store that I previously was unaware of its existence.

I ran 3 miles (training for a HM in Fall) and then rode my clunker 6.5 miles down to the bus. It was too hot to ride home and I had to pick my cah up at the shop anyway.
