Has anyone ever done the Monster Cookie ride in Salem?

Looks like it's a metric century in April (April 25th for 2010). It says it's fairly flat with some moderate hills. Anyone ridden it? How was it?

I rode it this year and it is my first year biking. I do spin about 5 times a week. I rode the entire thing and did just fine. Not too many hills at all, just one big one I can remember on the way back in. Very nice ride and very well supported with a rest stop at about every 15 miles or so! Doing the Peach of a Century in September which is in Salem also.

Thanks Jo, that's just what I was looking for. :) I was considering the Peach century as well. Haven't made up my mind yet.

Haven't done it but would love to. How can I find out about when it is in 2010? (specifics n stuff)

I think I've done this ride every year I've been cycling (1996 to present) - it's the "Season Opener" here in the Portland area. It is a very easy metric century - only 2 hills of any consequence, and they are no more than 1/4 to 1/2 mile long and not very steep. Fairly flat ride. Goes on no matter the weather, and I've ridden in upper 70's and sunshine down to upper 30's and rain. Afternoons are usually windy, though sometimes a headwind, sometimes a tailwind. Depends on the weather ;)

Salem Bicyle Club puts on good rides - well supported, good routes, good food at the stops and at the end - Monster Cookie has lots of cookies at the stops and lunch then at the end, they have "Monster" cookies - large ones :-)

Peach of a Century features Peach Pie at the end. Lots of fruit and goodies at the stops. Not sure if we're riding it this year or not - most likely will.

Be warned, though, it is 72 miles, not 65 miles. I think it is about 2000 feet or so of climbing, not continuous, just rollers and going over the hills.
