Yep, my SO has a couple and they are alot of fun. We really enjoy going out early in the morning with our coffee and tea in the cupholder. It's a pretty good workout, and when it's too hot to cycle, I go out on the pedal-kayak instead.

Tulip,

What models do you have? I can't wait to test drive one, we are going to have to go to San Diego to so this. Danas Jet Ski (Tim) is wicked nice and has over eighty Hobies on the floor for trying out.

It's called the Outback SUV. It's large, wide, heavy...but we have a floating dock so we don't have to lug them anywhere. They are not meant for "serious" kayaking, and by that I mean rolls, sweeps, turns, camping/touring overnight, rough waters, etc. They are what I consider "leisure" kayaks, but they are still alot of fun and meet my current needs.

They are cumbersome to paddle because they are so wide. I do like the pedaling, though. We don't have the sail.

I have been watching some of the posts on the Hobie website, and it seems like Hobie struggles with problems with their kayaks. Sure, they have great customer service, but what is you have an equipment failure out on the water? Not so cool.

The tandem we have been looking at WITH the peddle system weighs in at ninety pounds!!! That's a whole lot of kayak.

Sometimes, I do think it is better to keep things stupid silly easy. Paddling makes sense to me!!
