If you want something yummy and inexpensive to put on your oatmeal or mix a drink with, Trader Joes Vanilla Hemp powder at $9.99 is awesome. I was using Living Source brand which is literally twice as much, and the trader joes taste just as good!

Give it a try!

I love Trader Joe's. Thanks for the tip on the protein powder.

I've been using Show Me the Whey, available at Henry's and Ward's, but they've raised their prices to where I really think twice about buying it anymore. That, and my doctor warned me not to drink too many protein drinks because of some kidney problems I had a few years ago.

I look forward to trying the hemp powder, though.

Thanks!

I might give this a try. I used to eat often at a restaurant in NY that used hemp oil and flour, and I remember feeling great the day after every meal.
I like the flavor of hemp, too (I remember a hemp-crust apple tart that was amazing!).

hmmm, been a looong time since I've had hemp. LOL.

Seriously, what does this form of it do? Source of protein?

Is the powder really sweet? That's always my gripe with any protein powders is all the artificial sweeteners they add. I just want some additional tasteless protein, thank you. If I'm craving chocolate, I know where the ice cream is :D

No sugar in it at all, so add your own!!! Protein wise, it is awesome, and if you drink hemp milk, you will get 46% of your calcium needs in one glass!

No junk, no sucrose, just a clean product!

Does it have any soy in it?

It's getting sugar from somewhere because it has 5 grams of it. I haven't been able to find a list of ingredients on line, just the nutritional info. It has nearly twice as many carbs as it does protein.

Ok, I have the container in front of me:

2 tablespoons equal:

9 grams of protein

17 grams of carbs

11 grams of fiber

10 grams soluable fiber

1 gram insoluable fiber

5 grams of sugar

I love this too, but just a warning... it's green  The color mostly disappears if blended in to a fruit smoothie, but not sure about oatmeal. Still, taste-wise it's a great alternative source of protein!

I looked at the ingredient list on my container and it has evaporated cane juice--that explains the sugar!
