Three years ago, when we moved from Maine, we just could not give up our kayak. She's a tandem Wilderness Systems. So yesterday, we finally found the best place to kayak: Bartlett Lake. If you go to Bartlett Flats, kayak a mile from where you drop in, there is a "No Wake" zone for MILES!!! We went as far as it goes, and no boats, quiet, and if you love birdwatching, what an amazing area we paddled into!!

If anyone ever wants to join us, zip me an email, as we have been looking for other paddlers.

We went back and kayaked this area again. From the launching area at Bartlett Flats it takes about twenty minutes to get to the "No Wake" area. Bird watching can be done on the left bank as you paddle down, and it is an unreal riparian area. We spotted an Aztec Thrush!

Also, we haven't done these two other areas yet, but hear that the Blue Reservoir is absolutely unreal! Lake Mary as well, up by Flagstaff is supposed to be great!

Happy paddling!!

Lisa :)

Hey Itself, that sounds like a beautiful place to paddle. I don't live anywhere near you, so unfortunately can't join in.

We're going to be driving up to Maine to kayak/camp next week... Any recommendations? We were looking at around Bar Harbor or in the Penebscott Bay area.

Have you been to Clear Creek - near Winslow? It is not a real big area, but it is great!
