MCMENAMINS!!!! <3<3<3

I miss them so much. We had our wedding reception at McMenamins Kennedy School, and stayed there for our wedding night. Best honeymoon suite ever, complete with cute drawings on the chalkboard in the room...sigh...

Their beer is top notch too, Terminator and Hammerhead deserve their following!

Now why would you think I'd like such a tour? (far too innocent emoticon here)

They just added lodging to the one in Bend. I meant to check it out but no time this trip. Got sidetracked at the Bendistillery.

Ah, women after my own heart ! :D

I did the 62 mi. Bike4Breath w. a bunch of co-workers on Saturday, after which we reconvened at the Steelhead Brewing Co. in Burlingame for some recovery beverages.

- jo "why yes, I'd love another Raging Rhino Red" bob :o

*whimpers*

Obsidian is one of my favorites, and an essential part of all trips home to the west.

hey alison... do you have a Beverages and More out in OH? They carry the Deschutes label out here... if you have one it might be worth checking...

I love the Black Butte Porter too... but for me when it comes to beer the darker the better!!!

We do have a specialty beer and brewing supply store (Warehouse Beverage) that carries all our favorites, including Rogue and Deschutes, and we stock up when DH goes for brewing ingredients. :)

Do you drink Rogue Imperial Stout? Talk about dark! :)

well heck... now I gotta stop by Bev and More on the way home! Rogue Imperial Stout here I come... :D thanks for the tip!

another beer I LOVE that is not super dark but just awesome is Smithwick's... an Irish beer that I first had when in Irelnd cycling for 6 days last July... every Irish pub I've been to has it... definitely worth trying if you haven't already!

If I recall, Imperial is very high alcohol content, and comes in teeny tiny bottles: it's sort of a sippin' stout. For something more hearty and swiggable but also nice and dark and robust, try Rogue's Shakespeare or Chocolate Stouts!

Nothing like a stout for a cold winter's night, or a really crisply hoppy IPA for a summer evening!

OK this will freak you out but I triple dog dare you to try this... you're gonna have to trust me... I worked for a brewery for a while...

Get a glass of Chocolate stout or a sweet oatmeal stout and drop in a scoop of French Vanilla Ice Cream... we called it a "Stoutmeal Float" and served it as a desert!!! Guys would come in and we'd recommend it and they'd say NO WAY... so we'd tell them if they hated it we'd get 'em any other desert on the menu for free... only had to replace one desert in a year!!!

My ex-inlaws have a house in Bend and I still have an open invitation to stay there anytime... as a matter of fact my ex-MIL wanted me to come up and snowboard at Mt Bachelor this past winter...

I think the Crawl itself is around the Portland area. There just happens to be a McMenamins in Bend where we vacation a lot -- though vacation time in Bend is ALWAYS good! :D
