Hi riders,

I design and screen print t-shirts. I have several designs already printed and for sale online. I am working on a new design called "Bike Geekette".
I thought this would be the perfect place to ask this question....
I have two versions of the drawing for this tee:
(1) a girl/woman riding a bike in a dress with the words "Bike Geekette"
(2) a girl/woman riding a bike in the same outfit as the male version of this shirt. (t-shirt and long pants)

My question is - do you think the dress is too cliche and/or to much a thing of the past? Would you be more willing to wear a Bike Geek shirt with a girl wearing pants or wearing a dress? Or does this whole "Bike Geekette" idea sound ridiculous to you?

I am biker and my personal preference would be the tee with the girl wearing pants but I wanted to check in here to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for your time -
Kate

It really depends on the design. I think the dress could be a nice way to say that biking is more than dudes in lycra, but I think that Bike Geek would work fine for both genders, no need for -ette imo.

+1 on Geek being good for both genders

There's a thread on the boards about whether we'd ride in a short skirt or dress and I think the consensus was that many of us use bikes for more than exercise, but most of us don't ride in long skirts, or even short skirts.

When I take my bike out for non-workout stuff, I'm wearing shorts and a tank or t-shirt with my hair in a pony tail.

Well I remember being a child growing up in France ... and one of the many words for willy was very similar :P one Just a 'k' instead of the 'g' :D

Yep, I agree, drop the -ette and put her in pants.

Thank you, thank you for your replies. I would love more opinions but it definitely sounds like I should drop the 'ette' which is fine by me because the design would look a lot cleaner without it. So, "bike dude" in pants with pony tails. Any other opinions?

I agree geek is not gender specific. Can you link us to the current bike geek shirt? I could see shorts or skirt working, depends on styling...

Def. NOT bike dude with a woman in ponytails. Too confusing. It would be like putting a man in a skirt on a tshirt and saying bike chick???? Wuh?? Huh??

Definitely don't like the skirt idea - I like the pony tails - the words 'bike dude' don't work with the pic. Hey could you make one with a chick (as in a little chicken - maybe a way cute little chicken) riding a bike that says 'biker chick' or something?

There is already a cycling chick T-shirt.

Hope you will offer a colour choice that is also clear and brighter..try to remember people with sallow/yellow/olive skin don't always look good in muddy/toned down earth colours. There is a whole horde of people with such skin tones that are joining the cycling ranks...every year. Demographics changin', including cycling!
