The summary: warm, muggy, windy, muggy. My lungs hated me.

Went for a levee ride after work. Started with a flat. Fixed that, then went for a ride. It was really muggy out. Was riding with a new guy from the office, who didn't even know what a paceline was. But he's a good consistant strong rider. Winds out of the south, bring in more Gulf moisture. Oh goodie. My lungs weren't happy. So after 6.5 miles, had to do a rest stop to let my lungs catch up, then turn around and go back. At least we had a tail wind on the return trip.

Hope everyone else had a better ride.

Not to make anyone jealous :D....it was in the 70s here with a light breeze when I rode at 7pm.

Nothing like a jerk honking at me to turn my evening toodle into a sprint. I don't know what I would of said had I caught up to him (probably just let the hairy eyeball do the talking) but it was quite a chase. Grrrrrr.

Lucky you! Did you ride out to Brenton Point? On the mainland it was 80 at 7. I was riding with NEMBA on the trails in Big River... a really fun ride but buggy and sweaty! ;)

I've had a real on-again/off-again year so far. I've been off for the better part of three months due to a series of health issues, but yesterday I had my first ride back. It was slow, but it wasn't painful. It included a good short climb, which I had no trouble getting up. So on the whole I was pleased, and it felt so good to be out there moving again!

Incidentally, we're in winter here. Yesterday was beautiful, and I was able to ride in shorts and short sleeves.

Yep, and it wasn't even that stinky!

How's the new MTB?

ok yea I'm still new and have never done a group ride. (I have one comming up in Sept) But what's a pace line. I'm only asking cause I know it's a safe forum and I want to learn.

Bikingnurse: A pace line is simply two or more bikes riding one behind the other. Often riders riding together in a pace line can go faster than riding alone (fuzzy physics - I can't explain why.) ;) You can start simply by getting a friend to ride with you, and practice riding one behind the other, as close as comfortably possible. Google it too and you can watch videos of the pros in a paceline.
