I really try to watch out for all on the road but I was driving in my car to work this morning and nearly took out a cyclist (the kind that give all of us a bad name). I was doing about 35 and there was a car next to me (to my left) and all of a sudden out of the blue a cyclist came out into my lane off the sidewalk. She came out no more then 10feet in front of me so I had to swerve. Luckily there was no on coming traffic and the guy next to me swerved also.... Tragedy avoided but OMG I think my heart skipped a beat. To top it off the cyclist on her comfort type bike had her ipod plugged in and was not wearing a helmet.
Why?? Now I know why motorist hate cyclists! All it takes is one bad one to make them hate us all.

yes, you're right (and thank goodness no one was hurt) a coworker of mine rants about bicyclists; and if you question him, he will tell you the story of ONE CYCLIST....

I'm glad no one was hurt there. Did she even notice that she'd nearly caused an accident? I'm afraid I might have laid on the horn behind her. (not exactly living up to my screenname there.)

Those are the people I would like to stop and lecture--but I'm sure she was gone, completely oblivious to the chaos she caused.
