I have been racing triathlons for the past 2 years and have always worn my swimsuit during races. Lately I have lost quite a bit of weight and recently decided to buy myself some tri shorts and top to wear because the swimsuit is not always fun on the run.
In two weeks I am doing my first Olympic tri and have been trying to get used to running in my tri shorts. Problem is both of the types I have tried are really irritating when I go commando. I seem to be sensitive down under and wearing them without underwear is causing issues. I don't really want to change during transition so I was wondering how other woman have overcome this issue.

I have put bodyglide on down under when I am going to be in tri shorts for a decent run especially after swimming/riding. I noticed when I didn't that I had marks there, even if I wasn't conscious of them while running.
Have you tried bodyglide or aquaphor or anything? Not something you could do in transition, but it might last you through the swim/bike since they are less chafe-y in that department (well, maybe the bike).

What part is sensitive? In between the legs? The groin area?
If it's in between the legs (you know, the girly parts)... I might ask if your tri shorts have a seam that goes up the middle.
If it does, maybe that seam is bothering your girly parts and you just need a pair of tri shorts that don't have a seam up the middle?

KSH, you are correct (I couldn't think of a way to phrase it). I have one pair with a seam and that was unbarable so I bought one with a wide padded area in it and is still is irritating.

So WHEN are the tri shorts bothering you? On the swim, bike, or run- or all 3?
If it doesn't start till the bike, then it might be an issue with your seat. BUT you said you use to ride in your bathing suit? Right?
It's an odd issue. But if it's your girly bits, body glide is only going to do so much for that area.
With my last saddle, my girly parts would get pretty sensitive around 50 miles on the bike. To the point that by 100 miles it was downright painful. The- um- AREA would be pretty swollen and in pain.
Since switching saddles I haven't had that issue. Then again, I have only ridden up to 60 miles on it.

+1 on the Craft.
I have a tri suit from them and it was VERY comfortable in the Oly I just did. I did use bodyglide extensively beforehand. But there was very minimal rubbing on the inside of my legs during the run.
I had some TXU tri shorts before and they definitely didn't work as well. The fabric became abrasive after only 1 time in chlorine and I was like "never again".
Maybe the shorts will be more comfy if you avoid chlorine as well....

They only seem to bug me on the run, the other day I almost got a little too excited when I was trying to run on the treadmill. I am not quite sure what to do, I am thinking I may just change on the tri to avoid it.
