... here I come.

Remember I am the turtle...but will make it to the end!

We need rain so bad ...it is about 1/4 mile to the transition area because the water is so low. That should be rather fun don't ya think! NOT

This one has a shorter swim,500m and a little longer bike 15 mi (yay) and the normal 5k that will kill my feet for a few days ...dang chemo!

I tried to find a runner but oh well.... i know I can do it its just not my favorite part of the race.

You are gonna ROCK that tri!!!! I'm so excited for you. Remember- the tortoise wound up winning the race. You go, girl. Embrace your inner hare and you'll not only make it to the finish line, but you'll look good and feel GREAT!!!! Good luck to you!!

I feel your pain about the water being low. I did a tri a few years back during a drought and we had to walk for 4 min (that's how long it took me) through the mud to get to shore. By the time I made it, all the water had drained out of my wetsuit and it suction cupped to my skin and it took 3 people to get it off. Awesome!

I am swimming and biking much faster these days... last night I was riding as hard and as fast as I could because I knew the rain was on its way. The temp dropped 25 degrees over an hour from 100-75. I was shocked when I looked at the milage of around 17 miles in 58 min (when hubby came and got me because it started lightning!

Last sunday I did an open water practice swim and thought I was going slow...but in the end did my 750m in around 22 min (much better then my 35 at my first open water swim!)
Slowly but surely things are getting better... I hit a plateau with the weight loss...due to the weather and not working out - even gained a few....but hve now lost that and a little more again. 37lbs...98 to go!

Congrats on your new addiction!

My advice:

Find a good plan and stick to it.
Go to a reputable RUNNING store and have them fit you for shoes.
Starting out, run at a pace in which you can maintain a conversation comfortably. A heart rate monitor would help you establish pace if you can get your endurance training zones.
Stretch LOTS!!!!!

Running gets much easier the more you do it... just be patient and keep at it. You'll get better and stronger, but you have to be consistent.

Best of luck and HAVE FUN!!!! :)

Congrats on giving it a go!

I don't know what your back story is, but you mentioned chemo...

Sigh... I have been there! Cervical cancer in 01. I didn't have to do chemo, but they gave me a drug that acts a lot like it.
I ended up with sores on my legs. My doctor explained it to me as a burn from the inside out. FUN.

And I gained a TON of weight from the regime. UGH! Of course part of it could have also been depression.

And I was training for and running marathons at the time. It was a struggle. But I did it, and I know you will too!
Just know that someone else has been in the same spot you are now. It does get better. And the most important thing is to keep living life the way YOU want to. Do not let an illness dictate how you go through your day.
Best of luck to you!
