hello
i found the bike i will buy for now until i decide to invest in a light road bike.
i have found Trek hybrid bike - not sure what is the type, which I like, but as it is on sale they only have a frame size 17.5". I am 174cm tall with normal maybe slightly long legs and the seller is convincing me that it is too small for me. i tried to sit on it and I don't find it that small. However, i am unexperienced in buying bikes and i'm not sure.
i can't take it for a try for a few days.
Should i order a bigger one (he is suggesting 19.5") or is this suitable? he should have different sizes in a month or so.
any advice?
thanks
Nina

If I've done the math right, you are about the same height as me and that size bike would definitely be too small for me. Don't make the same mistake I made (which was impulsively get the smaller bike and repent in leisure). It's definitely worth the wait to get the right size.

I am about 3cm shorter than you and I have a 17.5" trek hybrid and it fits me fine. I was able to try bigger and smaller frames (and some of the WSD models), so I know for sure those didn't feel right.. and I would recommend trying the bigger frame to see how that feels before making up your mind.

I'm about 165cm (yeah, I had to do the math too) with longish legs and that's the size I ride. Sounds too small to me too.
Zen has this bike. Zen? what size are you riding?
I have a Trek Hybrid (7.2 fx) in 17.5" and measure 164 cm. It's just the right size for me.
The fit will depend on your legs and torso length, but I find that generally beginners (I don't know if you're one) feel more comfortable on a smaller bike, something about a greater feeling of safety. But that may cause some issues after a few weeks if the bike does not fit right.
You may want to try a few other sizes and see how they feel. (I know it may not be obvious for you.)
But above all: resist buying a bike because it's on sale and a good deal (unless it's your 10th bike!!) :D
Good luck!

hey thanks for replying.
i cannot try larger size as they don't have it right now.
i have a small bike now and i do ride for years and i always had smaller bikes as they fit in my elevator. but those were city bikes. i would like to ride a proper sized one this time and this one will go on some trips with me.
Seller said that it really looks small for me.
i think i will go with the bigger size. Problem is if I understood correctly that it is worse to buy a bike that is too big than too small.
if i order this larger one it will still be with discount so i don't have to rush because of the sale.
on trek official page they also suggest 18/19" for my height.
I hope it will be fine.

I have the 7.3. I had to have a larger frame size ordered for me because I'm 5'7' and my legs are long, so when I turned corners my knee would get too close to my elbow of the frame was too small.
