I took yesterday off (our anniversary, etc. :)), so today was long run day instead.

The rest day did me good. I'd spent all last week being sore; today I felt strong and did my hilly 10 miles @ 10:28. Yum yum!

I am sore all over and don't know why, so I walked 3.3 miles instead of running. I thought the heat would get to me, but I decided to walk before it did. It was like every injury I have ever had came out. Metatarsals on my left foot aching (stress fracture in 1988!), my usual aching right hip, and my knee with the road rash/bruise is really stiff. Well, I am happy to report that my hip actually feels better after the walk, and my pace was 15.8, so not that much slower than a run a lot of the time!
Sometimes I hate my body for rebelling the way it does. I did a 44 mile ride yesterday, which wasn't hilly, but hard in terms of pace and heat. I keep questioning whether I should be running at all, but usually I keep going. OK, off to veg out by the pond (reading Runner's World).

3.1 miles, slow jog with my dog at our local park this morning. Have been jogging on Mondays instead of spin class. I like to be outside every chance i get in the summer.

Happy anniversary!

Ok--I have been slowly slowly slowly increasing my milage. I am up to 2.5 on a flat and soft trail today. I am insanely slow and very careful, but I am doing it again! Yeah!

Yay Kacie! Coming back from an injury is tough. Glad to hear you're making progress.

I went out for a sloooow 60 minute run this morning. On the advice of wise women on these forums, I'm doing a "mini-taper" for a 300k ride in 100+ degree weather this coming Saturday. Given how HOT  it's going to be, I want to be as fresh as possible, without being a complete layabout all week.

Vermont is hilly! I ran 3.6 miles this morning before breakfast. After breakfast we rode two of the gaps. About 4,000 feet of climbing in 55 miles. I thought I might swim this afternoon, but lounging around for afternoon tea in the Inn lobby was WAY more appealing.

Today was kind of a tough day at work so I was glad to get out & run in the afternoon. Went 3miles it felt good and was a great way to clear my mind. :)

Kacie- I am so excited that you are able to run again!! Glad to hear you are being careful, that has to take a lot of restraint, but I'm sure once things are back to normal you'll be so thankful you did! Welcome back! :D

3.2 miles on rural paved road... 1st time running since rest for oral surgery last week. All of these niggling health things I thought I should get out of the way during summer I would have probably been better off doing over wintertime! ;)
DONE for the summer (hopefully) with that stuff!
On to training!

I've been running but haven't been posting since I have been spending a lot of time at my church's summer camp (I am the lifeguard for two of the weeks). Yesterday it was an icky rainy day but I hadn't run in a few days b/c of work etc. so I needed to get out and decided to try a completely barefoot trail run (no VFFs like I usually wear). It ended up being quite a bit of walking (still working on form and if it gets sloppy I can tell immediately with no shoes on because it hurts to step heavily on all the twigs and gravel) but it was good. Lots of puddles and mud pits to go through, which is FUN in bare feet!

7miles today in 86 degree heat. Most of my tech gear is in the wash so I wasn't in my best wicking top, ended up taking off the tank & strapping it to my fuel belt. Thankfully there was some wind otherwise it could have been really miserable. Since I did a 2mi OWS w/o a wetsuit yesterday my body wasn't real keen on keeping a good pace, but it wasn't bad all things considered. Great heat training for the race next month.

For those of you curious, I tried out perpetuem paste during the run today. 1 1/2 scoops to 3/4 ounce water. It worked great, no upset stomach and went down very easily which is saying a lot since I don't like to take in fuel when I'm hot. :D

Urlea - good for you for running in such heat. I find that exhausting.

Sooooo, the 300K ride I had planned for this Saturday got cancelled due to expected high temperatures (over 100 degrees). So, I *could* have done my 10 mile long run this morning, but ended up just doing a 50 minute run instead. I haven't been getting enough sleep these past two weeks, and really just felt like I didn't have 10 miles in me this morning.

One of the nice things about Oregon is that even though it can get hot in the daytime this time of year, the nights almost always cool way down. It was 56 degrees for my run this morning, which I find to be just about perfect. :)

4 miles for me this morning before breakfast at the B&B. My legs are pretty fried. We rode Appalachian Gap yesterday. It's where the road race portion of the Green Mountain Stage Race ends - a nice 20% grade for the last 1 K.

Yow V., what a climb!

Great to see you back running Kacie.

Me - mile repeats x 2, for a total of 4.4.

My raspberry cool-down is about done, except for a few late stragglers. Now I've got blackberries. Only trouble is, unlike raspberries which are ripe as soon as they're fully black, blackberries reach their final color before they're ripe, so the only way you can judge their ripeness is by feel. But once I've got my greedy fingers on a berry, it takes more self-restraint than I sometimes have not to pick it, even knowing it's going to be tart.

2 miles on a treadmill--not bad, my hip gets a little sore, so I am just keeping the milage very low and ice every time. keep it up!
Urlea, when is your 50k?

Another attempt at a barefoot trail run today, but it was a complete fiasco! I just couldn't relax enough to run (or even walk) over gravel etc. without it hurting--maybe my feet were extra sensitive from Tuesday's run/walk so things were more painful to step on than usual. And to top it off, the bugs were awful!!

Got home from vacation and did my short 2.3 mile run, down and up the hill. The running part was less than this, but I did run all the way up the hill, to my driveway. On the way down, I passed the woman we call the "mean walking lady." She walks at a furious pace, hat pulled down over her eyes, and never says hi.
On the other hand, the guy whizzing down the hill on his bike did say hello.

24.5mi training run today, yep, that's right 24.5!!! Maggy & I set out early this morning & were done by noon. Legs felt great & I am feeling good tonight which means we ran well and fueled properly. :D It's still true, I still love the long runs, so much fun!

Kacie- the 50k is August 22nd so t-minus 27 days!!!

Yowza! That's a long run!

I did 4 miles yesterday in Maine. It was an out and back route so on the way back I did intervals. It was a good run.

24.5, yikes!:eek: Great job. I wonder if there will ever be a day when I'll run that far comfortably.

10.3 for me today, a new loop. Now that I've finally got to a hilly 10 miles, all kinds of routes are open to me. So much more fun than the boring out-and-backs I have to do for anything under 8! What I didn't know is that today's route, although it's only a quarter mile longer than last week's long run, has some MONSTER hills in it. Didn't kill me, must've made me stronger. :D Plus, it was really scenic, and a pleasure to run (other than one really steep gravel descent that made me a little nervous).

There's a 10 mile race in two weeks that I'm thinking I might enter, just for practice drinking from aid stations. It's kind of a long drive, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a way flatter course than my long runs have been this summer - it would be interesting to see how I'd do, without really trying to "race." Don't know yet, still thinking about it.

My running has been OUSTANDING lately *knocks on wood*!

I took 6 weeks off for a stress fracture in my foot and I'm back... stronger than before.

I use to do a walk/run combo, but my friend wants us to RUN a half mary Feb 2010, so I figured I would give just straight running a try.

I don't know WHO I am!

Did 6 miles on 7-19-09 in 57:16. Did 6 miles on 7-26-09 in 56:58! For me to RUN for 6 miles at around a 9:30 minute mile... is shocking.

THEN on 7-26-09, I did a sprint tri... and RAN the 5K with a 8:15 minute mile! I was hoping for around a 8:30 and I smashed that time.

It's like I'm a runner or something. Trust me, it's completely shocking.

*Note: it use to be good if I kept a 10:30 mm with a walk/run.**
