ROFLMAO - I live in a desert state and only watch The Weather Channel for the local weather with the sound off.

I'm telling you that because I was trying to figure out who Dennis was and why you would want to get a ride in if you and Dennis were already riding - obviously close enough for Dennis to be breathing down your neck!!! :rolleyes: (I have since remembered that Dennis is the latest hurricanes name!)

...not talking about the time I went riding as a tornado was doing really bad things about 30 miles to the south...

Well . . . The chick and I DID slow down and stop to check how close the lighting was getting, less than a mile, then we turned our tail feathers and pedeled as fast as we could for cover when the rain and hail hit. A quick moving summer storm, that was all over in a matter of minutes. They do get the blood pumping! :rolleyes:

Ain't this the truth! Nothing get's you moving like that black, crackling sky coming for you! And around here, you can see them coming like the grim reaper! They need to make an "insta-tent" that fits in your bike bag for cyclists - you just throw it out and it pops up into instant shelter until the storm passes!

hubby and I raced (RACED!!) a storm home last weekend - and then regretted it - it passed so quickly, and 1 hour afterwards it was 80 degrees and not a cloud ANYWHERE! We were already home and showered and had let the sitter leave. We should have just kept riding and ducked under cover when the lightening rolled through for about 30 minutes.

Thank goodness I was spared the brunt of the hurricane...got crazy winds and plenty of rain (enough to ruin riding but I did get some running in) Unfortunately the storm was not so friendly elsewhere...my thoughts and well wishes go out to all in Dennis' aftermath!!!


On a lighter note:

All your stories remind me when I got caught at the head of a storm in Missouri on the rails to trails Katy Trail...I was peddaling so fast trying to get back to my car I thought for sure I would be lifted into air by a tornado...I felt like Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) What a Rush :eek:
