My boyfriend compiled this for me:

Luckily, he didn't include the segment where I was cussing and swearing at him, but you get the general idea. :D

That's great video gnat. The clarity of the moving shots are impressive and good editing job. If your boyfriend did the shooting and editing of this video of you, it really is a true act of love.

So he was on the bike too when you were filmed cyling on the bike???

It's a wonderful visual record of your accomplishment..and his also.

Video, most excellent. That is very cool. I'm tired just watching. Heck, I was tired when you were driving up a hill in your car. :) Congrats on the great accomplishment!

that is incredible. How DID he do it?

And how do you ride and not look all sweaty? Serious. That and your cheerfulness, swearing aside.

That is a fantastic video, thanks for sharing.

Fun video. Great job! I also can't believe you did 129 miles on what looked like a Specialized Toupe saddle. My butt would have been screaming from the saddle at that distance.

What a great gift- to commemorate such a monumental occasion on video (I like when you said: "now I never have to do that again."):D
You look great on video- even after climbing ginormous mountains! Congrats!!!

What a great video! I'd already seen Raleighdon's videos and his friend's videos, but yours is great, with narration, continuity. How DID your boyfriend do that? Must not have been his first death ride.
You're a really strong rider. COngrats!!

:)Great job... you go GF! Umm, here in the midwest we don't have such things. I was just watching the background of the mts thinking... hmm, how much climbing... then the punch line came up at the end. Whoa:eek:. OH... my favorite grin getter is the bar tape "I EAT HILLS". Thx for the inspiration... think I feel a 'tape tat' coming on for my roadie girl... well, with lil hills we have here anyway lol:rolleyes:.

It was indeed. Tho at the time, when he kept dropping me and zooming off into the distance, I got really mad at him. I didn't know he was going to do that much filming and not so much of the real-time conversation. At the time, I almost killed 'im. Now, I'm grateful for the video evidence!

But yes, he's a superstrong rider himself. He finished the Transrockies MTB race, consistently does well in crits, and a mere week after Deathride he's off to France for Tour l'Etape to go cruise up Mount Ventoux. Yowza. I feel like I've finally hit the point of fitness where I can just roll out of bed and ride a relatively flat century, but I have yet to get to where I can do something like Deathride with no warning, and one-handed to boot.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! Now go write your favorite mantra on your handlebar tape (it's like a temporary tattoo)!

That is so neat!

....and I don't think I'll ever participate in that event ;)

I understand why you get irritated when you have no idea when you're being filmed and when you're not.... :p

Thanks for sharing! :)

Yowza indeed!!

Any chance he'll be filming his l'Etape experience? If so, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love a link to that.

Neat video, and great job on the ride! I'm from the Midwest, too, so those kinds of rides are totally impressive.

I love your attitude! As someone else mentioned, you smiled the whole way!

finally!! I managed to watch the video on a windows machine. Just amazing. Forgot how beautiful Ebetts is and how steep it really is. That climb wiped me out every time.

Beer the night before

Beer the night before

I had a couple of beers the night before Death Ride - and before all our long training rides. If you are used to having a beer at night before dinner or whatever, then your body is used to it and it is no big deal. Plus it helps me relax and sleep better. (Wine on the other hand has too much sugar for me and seems to interfere with sleep).

Finally got to watch the whole thing just now - that was great!!! Your boyfriend has a great sense of humor, too. :) I loved the bit about reward based behavior.

Well done!

Next year?

Really cool. BF is nuts on the camera downhill. He must be an amazing rider.
I have friends who did the trans rockies mtb on their tandem.
