MTB shoe for narrow feet - shop in Denver?

I'm ready to make the switch to a clipless system but have decided to use a MTB shoe for my road bike so that I can walk easier among other reasons. I have a very narrow foot and am looking for any suggestions on which brand to try. I tried a regular width SIDI and it's waaaay too much volume for my skinny long foot. A friend told me to look for these brands: AlpineStars, Gaerne, DMT or Carna - any of you Denver/Boulder readers know a bike shop that carries these brands? I need to try a bunch on.

I can't help you with the brands but I know that REI has quite a selection of shoes. I would check first on their Website to see if they carry the brands you want to try out.

I have narrow feet and got a good fit in Specialized shoes.

Sidi's mens and women's shoes are cut on different lasts - the women's is much narrower than men's

Don't know how much luck you'll have w/ those brands, but in Denver (don't know the Boulder scene) I've had good luck with service and selection at Wheat Ridge Cyclery and Campus Cycles. Some of the smaller shops, especially Salvagetti, are also great, call ahead and see if they have something you haven't tried. And though I avoid the chains, Bicycle Village has a pretty enormous selection, at least of the usual suspects.

I also have long skinny feet (10A) and had good luck w/ an older Diadora MTB women's shoe. The Sidi women's fit well when I tried, though didn't buy (really, THAT much money?) And while I haven't worn them in a while and like something different than the big brands, whenever I've tried Shimano they seem narrow enough for me. Good luck!

+1 here -- and with the velcro straps, I can tighten them up as much as needed.

I tried Specialized but they had just way too much volume on top of my foot. Result was that when I tried the clipless system, my foot just moved inside the shoe and it was a nightmare trying to unclip....thankfully I was just on a trainer. But I'm riding more now and have a bad knee so I've got to get a clip-in shoe/pedal.

I will call Wheatridge. I'm looking for some European brands as I've been told they run more narrow. Guess I will put my SIDI's up for re-sale.
