We aren't bringing our bikes out, but I'm sure we can find some rentals in Boulder. Any recs for easy rides for those coming from sea level? May be kids and out-of-shape family members involved. Thanks for any info!

When are you coming out?? What kind of riding are you looking for? There are great rides for all skill levels. Feel free to pm me if you would like some details. I lived here for about 13 years in and near the Boulder/Lyons area.

You may PM me as well or friend me on mapmyride.com (I'm also MartianDestiny there) and you'll have access to my route maps which all start in Boulder.

Lots of relatively easy, rolling rides to be had. Great network of paved trails/paths (many along the river=pretty and passing through parks=picnic) for super easy fun rides. For an easy, but "real" road ride there is Neva loop, slightly longer is Nelson loop, up for some real distance but nothing killer you can go Boulder to Lyons to Hygiene and back...all primarily through rolling farmland. To the south of Boulder Cherryvale road is a favorite and I connect that in with Eldorado canyon.

My bike shop (sportsgarage.net) does demos, but they are highend bikes and it would be expensive (and probably not the best place to find kid's sized bikes but if you wanted to treat yourself to an Orbea or Wilier or Serotta they'd probably set you up). University bikes (9th and Pearl) has a large rental fleet (road and mountain) in all sizes and you can rent "premium" (high end) bikes there as well with some advanced notice and an extra fee if you want to splurge for yourself (the primarily carry specialized and Trek, the rental fleet is Trek and Lemond, but I think the highend stuff may be Specialized).

I'd be happy to help set you up when you get out here or whatever. PM me and I'll get you contact information.
