Well, I made it to mile 127 (Vader) before I felt like I had to stop. At least I learned I could do a century, and it's good training for next year. I learned that I need more endurance and hill training, and I have a year to work on it. I'm sad I didn't fully complete the ride, but am celebrating, and giving myself credit for, what I did acccomplish.

Unfortunately they 'misplaced' my bag in Portland (my ride home picked me up in Vader then we went to Portland to collect my bag) so now I have to wait until everything gets back to Seattle and hopefully pick it up then.

ZooZoo, I know you're sad that you didn't finish, but kudos to you for making it so far! I'd love to attempt the STP some day, as that is my favorite area of the country. I'm duly impressed with your performance...you should be, too! :)

riding 127 miles is a huge accomplishment! I didn't quite finish STP last year (SAGed from Centralia to lodgings in Winlock and carried on from there the next morning) but I felt elated about what I did manage to accomplish come monday. I also picked up a ton of strategies for this year. I imagine you know what to do differently next year and it will be a breeze!

I bet you hit those rolling hills around vader around the time that the thunderstorm and hail hit?:( No fun. Whatsoever.

Thank you both for your replies and encouragement. I am proud of myself for making it as far as I did. And next year will be a very sweet victory when I cross that finish line. This at least showed me what I need to work on, and in next couple of days I'll do my personal 'annual planning' to sit down and figure out what worked, what didn't, and what to do to improve. This site has been so wonderful to read and learn from and I'm glad I found it and the community when I did.

Also, next year check out the cascade club's training series. I am pleased as punch with the gains I made this year. They start out in febuary or march with a fairly easy ride from Sandpoint to Seward Park and work up to a full Century (on parts of the stp route) in July. Just search for CTS on the Cascade site.

ZooZoo - I adore your attitude!! I have no doubts that next year you will be flying across that finish line with the biggest smile ever on your face!

Thanks for the link! I added my 'saga' to it, and thanks for the encouragement, too.
