View Full Version : lumpy Panaracer t-servs?

A few months back I bought a pair of Panaracer t-serv 700x28s from a website. Put them on, seemed fine, no problems. I rode them maybe 25 miles before I noticed a bulge on the front tire. Next time I was at the LBS, mentioned it to the owner. He said that it was bad and a manufacturer's defect that should be warrantee-able. I sent the tire back to the online store and they sent a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement also seems to have a bulge. The original tire that I kept also seems to have a smallish bulge. I've taken them off and inspected the inside and there isn't anything that appears to be a gross/obvious defect. It almost looks like the bulging is a result of the way they sew the tires up (sorry, not a good description). Has anyone else had this problem with these tires (or other Panaracers) ? Should I be worried/send them back? Info/advice please.

I'd send them back. What a pain!

send them back. I've got some 700x28 t servs that I've been using for a few months - neither of them have bulges.

But couldn't it be something I'm doing wrong? If it is a manufacturer's defect, what are the chances that all 3 tires would have it?

Maybe they're from one batch of the tires and that batch of tires all had something wrong with them?

Are they the new t-servs or the older models?

i've got one new, and one old... neither have had any bulges, and I've managed to twice screw up my rear wheel with the panaracers on them and despite enough force to bend 2 rear wheels... the tires are still fine.

This is my thought as well. We had a problem with the hard drive on our DVR. We exchanged it for another one...same problem. A third? Happened again! The company finally figured out that it was a bad lot and got rid of them all and then we finally got a working one.

Happens in manufacturing all the time.

I have Panaracer Stradius Pros' on my bike and after more than 3000 miles, they are still in great condition.

I'm a bit hesitant to send them back, only because the shipping cost is adding up. Well that, and I'm a little afraid that the company will say that it's somehow my fault--not that they have given me any reason to think this, they've been fine to deal with so far, just that I'm a little scared. How dangerous do people think these tires are? I certainly can't feel the bulges while riding.

Can anybody who has used both the 700x28 t-serv and 28 gatorskin tell me whether one is smaller when inflated than the other? I'm having a little trouble fitting my fenders, so I'm wondering if a switch would improve that situation.

Thanks for any info.
