Ya'll see the chalkbot thing that Livestrong is promoting? You go to the website (wearyellow.com) and follow the links to the chalkbot. You type a message to the chalkbot, and I guess it prints it out on the route. The idea of the message is...Why do you ride? Aimed at everyone, but obviously Livestrong supporters/and people affected by cancer (directly or indirectly). You see what it looks like when chalkboted and can make it your wallpaper or screensaver too. I liked it so much that I made it my background on my computer.
Mine was:
My dad was invincible...almost.

That's a sweet message.
I think the Chalkbot is cool!

That's pretty wonderful, and heart-breaking.
Cool idea, this chalkbot.

I second salsa - wonderful, and heartbreaking. My daddy too. :(
I sent one for my sister, though I did it a few days ago and now can't remember. I think it said they will notify you when your message is printed on the route. That will hopefully remind me. :)

I did one for my Mom. She was a real adventurer. I go down those roads for her.

KenyonChris: You sure hit it on the nose. We all feel our dads are invincible... but in the end they are not, sadly.
Left a message of my own for the Chalkbot. Cool idea.

Awww...this "gives me tears", as my son says.
I still have my daddy, but I sure miss my granny. :(

Oh boy. I'm sorry. Think I need to go send some chalkbot messages to both my mom and dad. It's hard stuff, isn't it?

Wow. I am very sorry. My dad was 54 when he died...seven years ago. It is not so fresh, but not any easier. He died of appendiceal adenocarcinoma. He was a tennis player, a cyclist, a basketball player, a raquetball player, he ran marathons...and, as far as I was concerned, knew everything about everything. When he got sick, he was fit and healthy. They gave him 18 months to live, he lived for three years.
I don't bike for him, I bike because of him.

Oh Pinkbike, I'm so so very sorry. I'm teary and my Dad died when I was in my teens, and that was nearly 30 yrs ago. It does get better though, I promise. You smile and laugh more at the memories. But the tears never really go away, they just get easier to live with.
Take care of yourself and know that many of us here understand.

Oh I'm so sorry Pink! - and Kenyon too. And all the other ladies that have lost their papa's!! :(
I know that with life, comes death. But I'm dreading the day my parents pass.

So very sorry for your loss, Pinkbike. I lost my dad nearly 4 years ago now in a car accident, and the months following were the darkest period of my life. I'm much, much better now, but I won't say it ever gets easy. :(

I'm so sorry, Pinkbike. ((()))'s to all those who've also lost loved ones. Everyone else call your parents right now :p
I can't quite figure out how to get to the chalkbot or make it work. Has anyone told it to paint "win Susan!"
Seeing that'll get Lance to attack ;)
