How many TE members have you met in person? Of course that counts people who have not posted for awhile too.
Let's see --have met only 6 (Vancouver & Seattle). Will meet #7 soon! :) (Atlanta, Georgia)
When I joined really had no expectation to meet anyone in person. It was more to be part of a female-centred cycling internet discussion group.
I have participated in previous bike forums elsewhere, where I met with 3, each woman in different situations/places. They were from: Toronto, Netherlands and New Mexico. Netherlands woman was doing a worldwide bike ride and was an esperanto enthusiast.

3, if I am remembering correctly. I've talked to a few others on the phone but not met them in person.
I hope to meet more soon!

Sorry --I've met 7 TE members in total so far. (How could I forget...a trip to Hawaii.) I did meet a member in Hawaii: Maui.
Would be willing to meet a regular member here from Greater Toronto area...I'll be going back to visit a whole whack of family this fall.

It's fun to reorder the member list by join date and see who has been around for awhile and is still contributing. I joined in Oct. 2002. Trek420, snapdragen and Dogmama all pre-date me.

You know, I didn't list any names, because I can't remember them all. But, I do see Deb W, Kfergos, Mayanorange, and Denise G. And Tygab. There was someone from the North Shore... Donna? Oh yes, and Imperfectstorm, Wavedancer, and Karen (I can't remember her screen name). There was also someone I rode with twice, but I can't remember her name. She hasn't been on line in a long time.

Waves to Wine 2007:
ninabike, mtkitchn
LRRH 2006:
BikerHen, Tater, CyclaSutra, Lifesgreat, sulis, AuntieK
Cameo appearances in the Bay Area:
DrBee, Biciclista, Duck on Wheels
My visit to Portland & the sidewalk sale at TE HQ last summer:
Susan, Jeff, oxysback, suzieqtwa, evangundy
It's fun to reminisce on how & when I met you folks. :D

I've met Lbtc, KG, Trekhawk, Grog, MMQFC, Sgtiger, X, Kit, Salsabike, Mimi n Raleighdon()n bikerhen..
The catch up with Bikerhen was quite funny. I couldn't find an internet cafe in CD & was thinking :( how will I ever know who to look for? Sure enough, three cyclists meandered towards us & thought...hmmm..Sure enough it was them!

One, Duck on Wheels. And that's pretty tootin' good seeing as we're perched up here on the outskirts of civilization, on each our end of a country shaped like a pencil. ;)
I usually show N'way as shaped like a long over-the-elbow mitten. You're down in the angle between thumb and fingers. I'm up by the wristbone. Then there's still nearly all the way up to the shoulder to go before you hit the Russian border at Kirkenes. ;) I've gotta get down to that thumb-web again soon, and now that my PhD students there are done, maybe we can meet up for coffee again, or even a ride ...?
As for the rest of the list: There're the family members, of course. UK-Eliphant, Trek420, KnottedYet, Maury. I think Trek's and my mutual SIL is a lurker, and possibly our mutual cousin in Geneva too. I've met a whole bunch'a folks at my "cameo appearances" in the Bay Area. I think there's a picture somewhere in the archives. Melody and I were one another's peloton on the infamously epic Cinderella Classic 30th anniversary ride. We didn't finish, but I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without her. (Hi there, Melody! Haven't seen any posts from you recently. How're you doin'?). I've probably met others on CA and WI rides up through the years, but just not realized it. SaraLou was up here at the wristbone for a year doing coursework on her MA. (Hi Sarah! How's LouLou? We kinda miss her. Saw a roughcoat Jack Russel yesterday -- cute, but not as charming as LouLou. Guess we'll have to go visit her in Alaska some day. And will you be back here for your final orals?)

I've met three. Two of which don't post here any more. (is it ME????)
One was a sweet girl who rode her Bike Friday across the country several years ago. I put her up one night at my house. I wish I could remember what name she posted under.
Another who no longer posts here has gone on to do some serious racing here in the midwest. Can't remember her nym, either, but we had some pretty good outings together.
And KnottedYet, who went out of her way to meet me when I helped Elder Daughter move to Seattle.

I discovered 3 TE members here live less than 5 kms. near me, in different directions. Ironic to discover this via an international, American-dominant forum like TE. :) Otherwise we would be cyclists passing each other into the night.

I've met the Silvers multiple times (and Silver Son). The Silvers and I did the Horsey Hundred in 2008 together, along with susan.wells. Mr. Silver briefly introduced me to Makbike and Mr. SR500 after RAIN last year. I was in a post-ride fog, however, and it was kind of a blur.

SK is short for SadieKate .
Oooh, I made a funny, SK is also known as Short Sarah (or SS), so as not to be confused with Tall Sarah, or TS, aka maillotpois, or mp. I think I'm in trouble now ... :D
If it's the picture I'm thinking of, that's not me with SK & mp, btw. She's their friend (whose name I have momentarily forgotten, doh) who they formed their Waves to Wine team around.
I, on the other hand, manned the very first W2W rest stop with Team Snap (me, Lee, Veronica, Thom, aka_kim, BikerZ, and, of couse, snap) and spent that time trying to minimize the gawdawful traffic jam at that stop, by harping at people to move themselves and their bikes off the freakin' path. Oy. Happily, Team Snap will not be working that rest stop at this year's W2W, instead we'll be working the one up in Marshall, so everyone will not descend up on us all at once.

Oh, now I see "SK" listed in the original list! I'm a little slow today! I could have sworn that the card I got from SK said that you were in included in the picture. Not sure I can count them all, but there's the Massachusetts contingent that's done a couple rides or meals, usually with Crankin's leadership (thanks). And the DC contingent whom I had the pleasure of riding the C&O with. And one member who lives in Texas and one in NY. And AlpineRabbit from here in Zurich. I met SheFly at the Tuesday night women's rides a couple years ago. And a couple of TE members have been to my house for mechanic assistance, and two have gotten wheel building lessons. I'm counting at least 12 from Massachusetts, 5 from DC, 2 from elsewhere in the US, and 1 from Europe. That's 20.

It was an awesome day! The race was fun to watch, chatting with Shefly and her honey was great and I got a lobster roll for lunch. Oh and the carrot cake for dessert was really good too. :D
Veronica
PS We have some great pictures from the race. They will for sure be up by next week when we get home.
V, I was in Maine just the week before! I just missed you guys! I actually got back home on the 20th, wee hours. I recall my cousin was talking about the Clam Fest coming up too (they were making plans to avoid it, actually, because of the traffic).
Hope you had fun -- sounds like it was a good day out with SheFly & DH, and after having one in Freeport, I now have a "thing" for lobster rolls. :D

Spazzdog, have you forgotten about your MA contingent??
Remember that weird ride you, myself, Denise, and Jean took in N. Andover??

Hi Crankin... I kinda remember. I've managed to almost eliminate any memory of Massachusetts fom my little pea brain.
There's limited space is my spazzy memory
Where the heck did we ride anyway? (send me PM... don't want to be responsible for thread drift :) )

Hope you stick around this forum, Chile Pepper. You never know where people go travelling. I know someone and her hubby, cycled from Pantagonia northward back to Vancouver.
She and her hubby made a little documentary movie about this.
