View Full Version : Lightning got a "new dress" for her bday!

My bike's 1st birthday is next month--so Daddy agreed to buy her new tires, tubes and bar tape!

When it all arrived in the mail today, I simply couldn't wait! I changed the wheels, tires and tubes by myself! It's a first--DH is usually to impatient to let me do it. I passed inspection. He did the bar tape when he got home.

I never liked the white bar tape--not even on the floor of the lbs, because I knew it would show dirt. I was eyeing the Madone's on the Trek website and DH had to act fast (www.trekbikes.com/women/wsd_products/bikes/#road) -so he ordered the red tires. Wheels are his old set.

My Fuji Team came with white bar tape too - and I'm with you, hated it even in the lbs. It hasn't worn out enough yet for me to justify getting electric blue tape, but ooooh -- seeing your red tape has me dreaming!

Cool! I love the red tires. My bike's 1st birthday is July 12. I hadn't thought about a gift for my bike - but what a fun idea!

The red tape & tires really make for a brand new, uber-fast look to that bike. I love it! Happy birthday Lightning!

It definitely looks faster--until you fly by me! DH could NOT believe I did it myself. When he pulled into the garage, she was still upside awaiting inspection: "NO way you BOTH tires by yourself!" I was very proud. Taking her out this morning to show off--but everyone is moving very slowly :rolleyes:

FUN and very pretty!!! Congrats!

My Specialized came with white bar tape, and it never made it on a ride like that. Then again, I switched out the handlebars, and it didn't make it to my new handlebars. Gets dirty too quickly!

The red accents are very nice! Enjoy!

It was a pretty bike before the makeover, but now Lightning is smoking hot!:cool::D

Yeah, I hear you on the white bar tape. I was really glad that mine came with black rather than the white on Giant's website. While it would have gone better (picks up the white on the frame), I'd think it would look disgusting after a few rides.

I'm not a red fan, but that totally works! I think you'll find changing tires a LOT easier now with the new wheels. I almost bought the wheels off my boss' new Madone until I was warned not to. Bontrager rims are notorious for being tight so things should be a lot easier now!
