I posted a new thread on this website several weeks ago and I just wanted to write back and thank all of you who have taken the time to look at our site www.routeruler.com, and for the commetns you have sent.
We are still fine-tuning some of the features and look of the site, but we do have a website up at www.RouteRuler.com , and want you to take a look at it. We feel it could turn out to be a great training tool for Cyclicts as well. We have been live for 2 months now and have 1200 members and average 6900 hits a day.
For all who have not, I hope you will give it a try and send us any comments you might have. We will be constantly improving the look and usability of Route Ruler through the coming months.
I hope you like it, and I look forward to any comments you may send.

I went to your site and registered and was told I would be notified by email when the registration process was complete. I still haven't been notified. I registered the day you posted your first notice about this website. As someone who tends to ride distances alone - I could really use a tool like this to pick routes. Any help you can give me to complete the registration process would be appreciated.

Hmmm, I just registered and got confirmed. RouteRuler likes me better than Corsair! Nyah, nyah! :p
Did you register with a Yahoo address? Some places won't take them, they prefer "real" ISP addy's.

technically it's not spam because it's non-commericial and somewhat relevant.
I've seen it on at least three other boards tho, which means to me that they just need to learn the proper way to advertise, free or not.
also, I'm not real hot on having to register for free stuff. This means they are collecting usage data on you.

One 'o them Info Systems geek secrets, to be sure! Actually, I have a habit of collecting pictures and saving them on my hard drive. Anything that strikes my fancy...

you should be able to change your avatar no problem.
I save wierd pictures with a humoruis bent too. Google/images is fun sometimes if you can isolate your topic enough.

I did go to the site but didn't register - registering to use a free site rubbed me the wrong way. Plus, while I realize that sites like this one often host ads in order to support themselves, the flashing ad at the top of the page really turned me off. The Google ads on the side are pretty unobtrusive, but the flashing has got to go!
I also found it interesting that in order to get the route distances you have to load your own map. It seems that having (or not having) a good online map source is part of the problem.

I apologize, spamming is not what we are doing or intended. We were just looking for feedback from bikers... and since we are runners and don't know that many we thought the easiest way was to post on some of these forums. I am sorry if they seem intrusive, but we started by posting to a couple and got no response, so I decided to see if I could find a more effective way of reaching out. The service is free and will hopefully remain so for as long as we can maintain it. We are just 2 runners working on this in our spare time.
I want to thank all of you for your suggestions and many of your commetns we are going to be working in on in future versions. Especially the ease of which it should download, the ease of getting maps, and getting rid of those annoying flashing ads. We have those on there to try and defer some of the costs associated with running the site, but we think they are annoying, and we have heard back that others do as well, so we are working on a plan to jettison them.
From our internal monitoring we have seen a huge respose from Team Estrogen forum and appreciate the support, comments, and suggestions. BTW-we have no devilish intention when asking for some basic personal data, our intentions was to use it as a demographic meter to see what kinds of people are using the site. We have no intentions to sell the lists, and there is even an opt-out button on the form. Please, be assured that your info is safe and not going to be used for anything more then internal demo analysis, as perhaps a way to entice relevant advertisers.
I hope this answers some of your concerns and I hope that some of you will takw another, or a first look at the site and send us additional commnets. Feedback is our currency for right now.
Thanks again for the support,
Alex Sumberg
