Hi ladies!

I'm pretty new-ish to cycling; I used to ride a long time ago but never did any races/rides/events. I've been a runner for over a decade and have run 33 races since October '06, so running is second nature for me. However, it's a whole different ball of wax incorporating the different elements of cycling. All this gear! Maintenance of my bike! Helmet! Padded shorts! With running, you need a pair of shoes, a good sports bra, some wicking socks, and a place to run. It's pretty brainless. :) Cycling is a blast, though! I ride my bike to work and if I'm not walking or taking public transit, I ride. I own a car but drive very infrequently. I don't need my car in this city!

I'm planning to do my first duathlon in August and I'm super excited about that. It's a 2-mile run, 20-mile bike, 4-mile run. I need to start doing some serious brick workouts, like soon! Any du/triathletes out there have any "tricks of the trade" for transitions? Or should I just get out there and get them done already? :) TIA!

Howdy!

I don't do "du's" but Spindizzy & I believe one other Te'er does. Scroll down to the tri section of this board & perhaps your answers will appear :)

Don't forget about the search button at the right hand side of your screen..

Have fun :) & good luck in your training!

Welcome!
Baring any more injuries, I will be doing my first du in october and tri training will begin for next season. No tips since it will also be my first, but like you I come from running and the cycling is a newer thing to me.

Hi, and welcome!

Do you use clip pedals? I've only done one duathlon but I decided not to use my clip pedals so that I'd be able to do the whole event in my running shoes and thereby save time not having to switch shoes twice.

Come on down to the triathlon thread. We discuss duathlon there, too.
