Will be heading out for some cycling this morn., abit early but he and I are used to this. It's my influence, I'm the earlier cyclist and I wake up naturally on time without an alarm clock, 99% of the time. Just tell me when I have to awake, and I will do so, naturally.
But will be joining up shortly with someone for the ride, who truly has a tough time waking up early for anything. Meaning anything before 9:00am. No, he doesn't have a night/evening job. He is single and childless.
Partner & I were giggling away because he really wanted my dearie to phone him to wake him up on time. Alarm clocks don't work well on him. :)

I, too, am usually an early riser but I'm having much difficulty with that lately. Because of this ridiculous heat wave we've been having, I have to be on the bike by 6:30 or it's too hot. It was 84 at 6 am this morning- grrrr.... I need a cool front right about now. :cool:

I used to ride at 5am or so but now with my new morning job that is now out the window. (I can't even bike to work :(.) I still get up early but now have to go to the train station :( or drive in with my bike & do a long ride in the late morning.
Often when we do dirt w friends we start "late" (at least for me) at 9am.oooo..Feels like half the day has zipped away!

I'm an early riser too. Sleeping in for me is 8am. I wish I could ride before work - I get up at 4:50am.

Sounds like my better half - anything before 10am is a struggle for him. He works the swing shift so he's used to staying up late and waking up late. I, on the other hand, spent 8+ years in the military and am used to (and enjoy) being up before the sun. I prefer to get in my rides and runs as early as possible. I was working at 7:00am but now I got a new job and I start at 9, which will give me plenty of time to ride before work.

As a kid, I had the old fashioned table alarm clock and used to muffle ticking of clock with clothing and put it in a box under my bed.
I trained my body over time to wake up naturally without a clock. I needed my sleep back then. :D Back then, I was non-functional before 9:00 am.
Once a upon a time, I lived downstairs where the tenants upstairs had a real LOUD alarm clock at 6:30 am that woke up the whole house. It required that sound level to wake up someone upstairs to get to work on time.
But sleeping habit of getting up early willingly to start the day changed with cycling over the years. Started to voluntarily wakeup earlier 'n earlier just to cycle when it was cooler early morning, less cyclists and cars around. Meaning sometimes pushing off the bike at 6:00 am. on weekends.
But it felt great to finish at around 8:00am then perhaps ie. go off on bike to do grocery shopping...on a Sunday in store. No crowds and lineups to deal with.
I can easily sleeping through a continuously ringing clock and I have asked for a wake up call from friends. People are not all alike, we each have our own circadian rhythms

My husband can sleep through anything. One time I was traveling in Asia and he needed to get up early for work, so he asked me to call him. So I called in the middle of my dinner (early morning for him).
Well, he answered and immediately hung up 3 times in a row. :rolleyes: I gave up, that's quite an expensive snooze button!
