Ok, so I noticed a lot of embarrassing questions get answered with no rude comments...and I know that some of the women here also have bikini waxes. Sooooo....anyone have any idea what we should be tipping??? I am so clueless...I'm getting brazilians...do I tip more for that than just a regular bikini wax (which I used to get)? I was doing $7 on a $45 wax, but gave $5 today and felt like I was getting a nasty look. The wax is ok, not the best, but I guess not the worst. So I'm trying to figure out an average tip amount?

10% unless it's the owner of the shop... generally the shop owner shouldn't expect/accept tips since he/she gets a cut of everyone elses pay.
i apply this rule to hair salons as well; I tip the shampoo person and my stylist.

Some of it depends on where you are. Around Dallas, people are more prone to tip 20% in the high end salons, 10% in the low end salons (End as in price - not end as in which end they are working on hahahaha!) For the more "involved" processes - ie: foil hilites or multi-color processes it's higher. For just a simple cut it's lower. Waxing legs = less; waxing booty = more.
I have been considering that myself - honestly - how bad is the pain? really...

Technotart,
I've never waxed, except poetic or nostalgic... sorry for the bad pun but if you haven't read this thread this is simply one of the funniest bits I've ever read anywhere ..... and I read a lot 8-)

As for tipping I tend to tip 15-20% regardless unless the service is really bad in which case they'll usually know about it. I used to cook in restaraunts, don't know if this is true of other jobs like hair cuts/waxing but your waiter is taxed based on their being tipped 15% so if you tip less they're taxed on it.
Also your waiter may have to split his or her tips with the chef/bus boy/bartender etc.

I just wonder how bad it hurts to have it done - there is NO WAY I would EVER try to do it myself! Don't wanna end up stuck to the countertop!
That thread is FUNNY every time I read it!

Hey - if you want good service, especially down there, I'd tip a bit more. :p
It's 15-20% around here. It keeps my girl happy and gentle....

LOL... feeling a tad superior here
*getting ready to be clouted round the ears for being cheeky*
We don't tip in NZ... we have actively resisted it... NZers just don't tip!
Not a problem
