Can some one give me a training guide or some advise as to how to train for long distance rides...that is my goal but I'm sorta confused as to how long to go when/how and everything? I found one training guide on the 2005 Ride for the Roses website http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.jvKZLbMRIsG/b.788287/k.AC32/How_To_Train.htm but it seems confusing and I just wanted something a little simpler if possiable? Thanks everyone!

Here is the link to a rider manual for a benefit century:

http://www.stapinc.org/rider%20manual.pdf

Pages 11-12 have good, straightforward mileage charts you might consider following. There's a lot of other good beginner riding information in the manual, too. Enjoy!

(I googled "training century")

This has a nice chart -- but mainly, just RIDE :-) what's the standard formula - don't increase by too much at once, like 15%... but that depends on your constitution, too.

And if you can't ride as many miles as you feel you should, do the ones you can do faster (or tuck in a few sprints halfway through... makes the whole rest of the ride a little more challenging :))

Thanks for these links, I have saved to my favourites for a better look, but on first glance they look very useful. An organised century is my long term goal - 2006 - cause I want to do more than just complete a century, I want to do it in a good time too.

Thanks guys for the links....I didn't realize i could do this in about 10 weeks if i train really hard. That is exciting!! I'll be able to do a bunch of training rides for the MS 150 next year and maybe even the H-E-B MS Bike to Beach in Oct. I'm pumped!
