After all the discussions about heat and camelbaks, I gave in. I did a search for threads on camelbak, then headed to the store. I was able to hold a semi-intelligent conversation with the salesman and came home with an Aurora (Dream is sold out everywhere. May be a new model coming).
Promptly rinsed it, filled it 1/3 full and put it in the freezer. I drank twice as much as I normally would have on a 1:30 ride this morning. It was already in the 80's.
SO THANKS YOU GUYS! You make me sound smart.
PS. The high in St. Louis today will be 96 with a heat index of 110 and our air conditioner just died :(. Hope everyone else stays cool.

glad you got a new one! I always drink WAY more with my Camelbak than without it. Unlike others, it never bothers me sitting on my back- I don't even know it's there. Glad you are set!
Oh, and summer in the midwest. Gotta love it (no, I don't). We just got back from Colorado and I sooooo miss the coolness and dryness of the mountains. It's like an oven here. Hope your AC gets fixed PRONTO! :)

What size are you using? I thought about purchasing a 70 oz.

Glad you bought yourself that camelbak. Mine holds 70 oz and I don't leave home without it during our hot St Louis summers. It has never bothered me in the least carrying it on my back. I fill the bag partially with the water, then top it off with a lot of ice cubes and it keeps me going throughout the awful heat/humidity. Hope you get the A/C fixed soon!!!!

I wanted a 70 oz, but they didn't have it in a women's version. I got the 50 oz. I figure it's as much as the two polar bottles I used to carry--and I'll put them on the bike for insurance. On most of our rides, we can refill every 2 hours or so.
A/C is fixed--still 89 in the house, so I'll be in the basement for awhile.

SEVENTY ounce!!!!!
I got the biggest I could find - 100 fl. oz.
I do have a smaller one, I admit, for running back and forth to school, short hops, etc.
Mine are hydrapaks.
