I went from I.E. 7 to I.E. 8 2 days ago and found out that it doesn't play nice with some of my programs. So I did a system restore to remove it. WARNING - THIS DOES NOT WORK. What happened is that it completely uninstalled Internet Explorer from my computer. There's a lot of complicated stuff involving service pack 3, but be that as it may, it took my very patient SO many hours to get everything back to normal. If you install I.E. 8 and don't like it, UNINSTALL IT, don't go back to a restore point.
I think my next computer is going to be a Mac.

yep. just get a mac. no hassles, no restores, no lockups or installing 'drivers', no antivirus stuff or anti spyware required blah blah. they just WORK.

you mac people....
I use firefox 99% of the time, I only use IE for the very very few sites that won't run in firefox... it's a nice alternative.

Another firefox user here. I'm like you, I don't use IE unless I have to. I'm very satisfied with firefox. I really don't know anyone who uses IE anymore. I tried Google Chrome and liked it too.

Firefox is an alternative (non Microsoft) browser. In some ways the functions were stripped down so that it runs faster, it also allows for easy pop-up blocking, ad blocking. They invented tabbed browsing. In fact Firefox enticed so many Internet Explorer users away that MS started copying all their functions.
Most Firefox users feel about Firefox the way Mac users feel about Mac, they'll never go back to microsoft.

actually, I think Opera actually invented tabbed browsing... Opera is also worth trying. I loved it for many reasons and actually prefer it to Firefox, but I went back to Firefox because I got sick of having to jump through hoops to make certain pages work correctly on Opera (especially java and flash heavy sites).
