Greetings from my In laws casa in COLD (for this AZ weenie) Santa Rosa CA...

Running hubby and a handful of buddies did a local 24 hour race this weekend that was indeed, Cool...
It was called the "coolest 24 hours at Bogg's" held at Bogg mtn here in nor cal.
What a laid back race!! The race director was freaking hysterical. He dressed up like Sasquatch in the middle of the night and ventured out on to the course with his kid and a night vision video camera...
He also had a keg of beer for all to share.
Tinker Juarez won the pro solo division. MAN is he fast!! And really nice too!!
I staked out a spot on the course to take pics, and everytime he came by he would say hi...
I saw so many cool things out there, but the coolest had to be the guy racing with his "chiweenie" dog in his camelbak. The little guy had goggles (doggles) and was enjoying the ride. After the race I chatted with him and he told me about his website and books.
Check out www.thegreatchiweenie.com
So freaking CUTE!!
As for the race, our team consisted of running hubby and three friends. They ended up in 2nd place (out of a whopping three teams). If running hubby hadn't struggled on the climbs they would have had a great shot at first. But the course had a lot of climbing (for us) over 1400 (the rd said closer to 1800 today) feet of climbing in the 10 mile loop. I heard that the fire road climb near the end was brutal. EVERYONE was whining about it!
But as it was, they had fun, and that's all that mattered.
RH was the only experienced 24 hr racer, the rest were noobs to the racing scene- though VERY fast noobs!!
I think there will be other races in their future!!
As usual I ran support and the chow wagon. I've pretty much got it down to a science. Though I was a bit miffed when one of the guys racing- the only person that I didn't know prior to the event- woke me up at 5am to make him breakfast before his next lap. Normally I would not have cared, but he had his GIRLFRIEND with him!!! And how hard is it to microwave instant oatmeal anyway??? I don't mind SUPPORTING them, but I am not their slave!!

Anyway, for you nor cal mtn bike girls, I HIGHLY recommend the "global biorhythms" events. Jim the race director is a HOOT and really cares about putting on a good event- and the people racing.

I will post pics on photobucket as soon as I can.

RM - sounds awesome except for the "get my oatmeal!" part. Grrrr. Let me guess, he didn't want to wake her? lol I don't think I have time in the schedule until 2010 to get any 24 hour races in but I'll get there someday.
