In the blog article, there was statistical summary search data to show interest in pink.

However, how does that compare against the existing sales of inventory where the garment with predominantly pink colour, was sold/purchased?

I probably have natural hair colour and skin tone that can wear a strong saturated pink, however I haven't bought anything predominantly pink for cycling. I wear a 'feminine' colour of solid lavender (short sleeve jersey)...only because it was my lst jersey (of many later) and it was cheaply priced. :)

For reasons I can't justify, I don't gravitate towards pink dominant cycling wear at all. :confused:

But I do have and wear some off-bike, pink shade dressier clothing. (Dusky rose tops, even a bright coral pink dress I sewed & wore for several years with black accessories, a light pink cashmere wool suit jacket for more formal meetings/occasions). :) So I don't hate pink. But for sports activities, I just don't like wearing it.

To address this, we recently sponsored a jersey design contest on the team estrogen forums http://forums.teamestrogen.com to put the design process into the hands of our customers. We received dozens of entries. Nonetheless, many submissions, as well as the winners by vote of the forum members, included styles that had flowery themes."

Hmmm. The only winning jersey that has a flower design on it is the "She Loves Hills" jersey. That jersey appealed to me and got my vote on account of the clever use of the "She Loves Hills...She Loves Them Not ..." phrasing. I suppose you could say it has a flowery theme, but it doesn't seem "flowery" to me. And yes, I know, I'm not making much sense here. :o

FWIW, for jerseys I really like vibrant colors and eye-catching graphic designs.

And the new crop of TE jerseys from the design contest fit that bill very well - bold, graphic designs and striking colors.

My all time favorite-est jersey is still the Amici Veloci jersey that Spazzdog and SadieKate designed many moons ago. It has very vivid colors - predominantly red, with some bright green and purple and black - and a striking graphic design. No flowers or butterflies, but a couple of small hearts. :)

But who knows, maybe the new contest winners will be right up there for me too.

Back when I first started riding in the late '80s, there were so few if any women's jersey choices that I ended up in men's smalls, and I thought nothing of buying a dark blue or black jersey. No more -- not after knowing so many cyclists who have been hit by cars (thankfully, I am not one of them, knock wood). Bright pink is highly visible, so it's a great color for the road, girly or not. I also favor yellow, red, and orange for the same reason. When I'm riding my mountain bike, anything goes, so I can wear even older jerseys, and I tend to wear a lot of blue, which I don't think is as visible on the road.

I really appreciate the incredible selection of women's apparal (and everything else) at TE and all the work that goes into presenting them to us! I really enjoyed the blog entries -- and amazing photos of Susan from an earlier entry below. Susan, you are but a shadow of your former self. Congratulations!! :D

I follow the same thinking re: color - a few years ago I did a ride with a friend who was wearing a blue jersey, and I was struck by how it did not jump out as a visible color. I tend to stick with brighter colors - pink, orange, yellow. I also avoid dark colors like navy and black because they make me hotter on hot sunny days. White is good too, for evening rides when it's getting dark.

I also liked the "She Loves Hills...She Loves Them Not ..." because its clever. If it was just a jersey with a flower I would have passed on that one.

I prefer bright colours and yep my AV kit is still my favourite cycling attire.:)

I feel just this way too--couldn't have said it more clearly than Jo did. No pink, no flowers, no butterflies for me. There are great swaths of women's jerseys that I will never, ever buy because of that flower thing. Like flowers in the garden, not on my shirt. Love the AV jersey.

There is a local group of guys (and probably some gals) that cycle together on their training rides....their kit is black, white and bright pink, in top and bottom. Wonder if they have a name.

Tis ok, i'm happy to wear my fave bike shop's attire or Ground Effect stuff..but it won't be the same..

I don't do flowery stuff & have never seen any mtb chick round here wearing flowery stuff on thier jerseys. I don't think the kanagroos or wallabies care what colour jerseys we wear.

I have a few jerseys with pink. I was always a fire engine red kind of girl but the pink jerseys match my pink bikes better! None of the pink ones are floral though - mostly geometric.

But here is my absolute favourite. It is a nice women's shape, is in pretty colours, has both red AND pink, and looks damned tough for a MTB chick! Comes from WA (over by you CC) from my fave jersey place, SprintDesign. DH gave it to me for my birthday.:)

Hmmm! Maybe I should take it for a ride in the forest tomorrow!

Oh - and I would probably have been one of the "pink" searchers on TE - that's where I got my pink furry seatbag!

Pink - I checked out Sprint Design's website. There are some nice designs and they offer them in several options (a fleece jacket? that would be wonderful!!).
I'm glad that I don't live "down under" or I'd have to break my "jersey limit" resolution for this year. I love the one you have and also, the one of the bike frame (the purple version is my favorite!).

OK, in fairness, I guess I should have said "....including one winner" as opposed to "winners" and should have said "designs with flowers" instead of "flowery themes". Thank you for pointing that out.

I guess what I was trying to say was that sure, people buy them when we have them, because that's what's presented to them. But that when given a blank slate, we still saw a variety of designs that included flowers on them.

Ok, I gotta log off now. My triathlon wave start is 2hr20min from now and I'm still in my bathrobe... :eek:
