I had my Specialized Dolce for about two years. When I bought it I was not sure if I actually was going to like cycling. Well I decided that I it needed to buy myself a present and it was time for an upgrade:o:D:p:cool::eek::rolleyes: I did some research looking around and got really overwhelmed! I did a short test ride yesterday on a Obrea Onix TDF. I went back today for a longer ride with my pedals and some adjustments - well it came home with me! Fitting was interesting (and confusing). Apparently my old bike was too big (51 cm and this is 48 cm). I need to do lots of riding!

How tall are you? I'm curious about the fit of the 48 cm on the Orbea.

I am ~ 5' 3 1/2" and my legs are longish for my height (inseam 30-31 in). After they finished adjusting the fit, it really was not much different than my Dolce. I tested a 51 cm and I was a little to stretched out on it.

MMMMM love it, white/black bikes are so gorgeous.
I question the sizing of my bike periodically, but it is definitely not time for something new on my end! Enjoy!

I'm not quite sure what my lesson is from this is, but there has got to be one (maybe don't buy a bike because you like how it looks and then convince yourself it fits and is comfy...????) I was so excited about my Orbea, and really, really wanted to love it, but I don't think that it was ever really the right bike for me. It was fin to ride, but basically killed my body (back and neck mainly). I did multiple fittings (not at the place I bought it, they lost interest after they had my $$$), but nothing made it much better. So I rode less and less. Now that the weather is nice, I really want to ride. After yesterday's ride, I was almost in tears. So I took a trip to the bike store today and test rode a bunch of bikes. I started riding with a Specialized Dolce, and was pretty comfortable overall. So not surprisingly the Specialized were still the most comfortable. So I came home with a Specialized Ruby Expert. After a fitting that included lots of adjustments and part changes. 2009 model, so I got a great deal. I am hoping I can actually have fun riding again!!:o:o

Your ruby is gorgeous - so was shamu... What happened to Shamu? Put out to pasture?

I'm sorry that shamu didn't work, that ended up an expensive lesson ;(

Shamu will hopefully be going to a nice new home soon. I am going to sell it. None of the local bike shops took trade-ins for brands of bikes they don't sell.

I'm sorry the Orbea didn't work out but the Ruby is a beauty. Finding the right bike is hard. I hope you put in many happy miles on the Ruby.

Your new bike is beautiful. I hope you get many years' enjoyment with her. We all have expensive lessons. I refer to them as tuition:rolleyes:

That is one nice looking bike. I am curious, did you get a 51 like your dolce. I am 5'2 and ride a 51 Ruby (and really love how she rides also). I think different manufacturers measure different and that might be why there was a difference.

Lots of luck with your new bike as it is a nice welcoming to spring

I did end up with a 51 - it felt the best. I tried 51's in some other brands and I felt way stretched out. I think after the fit, I fell less stretched out on the Ruby than the 48 Orbea. I am ~5'4", but my legs are really long for my height and arms short (I can sometimes wear long pants, but need petite tops or the arms are looooong).
