Talked to my local LBS about upgrading my drivetrain, and decided that it wasn't worth it for my current (rather inexpensive) bike. He mentioned he had a used, custom built womens bike that might fit me. I fell in love at first ride! She's a road bike, 51cm frame, Rodriguez (aparenlty a custom bike maker here in Seattle). She's got a a Shimano 105 triple, 27 speed, drop bars but the stem has been raised for a more upright ride, velocity rims and Michelin Pro race tires. Avatar 143 seat, but that may get changed out after I've ridden for a while. The shifters are different from my other bike - i.e. not the trigger kind, although I don't know what they're called (I'm such a newbie. LOL) so that's going to take some getting used to. She's dark purple, and I think her name is going to be Betty. She's five years old, completely overhauled and tuned, and looks new.

She's so tiny and light compared to my other bike (Schwin hybrid)! I am in love. I get to take her for our first real ride tomorrow morning, then I'm going to find some hills to tackle. Unfortunatley I don't know how to insert a pic.

This is like saying "It's encrusted with diamonds. Apparently diamonds are some sort of precious gem" :p

Wow! Really?! I really had no idea. (I don't know much about custom made bikes. I just liked the way it rode.) He just told me it was a custom made bike from a bike maker in Seattle. Sweet!

Enjoy your Rodriguez. All of a sudden, you will start to notice a lot of them around town. Here is a link (http://www.rodcycle.com/) to their website.

Oooo. Thank you LilBolt! She's a Stellar, which was produced between 1996 and 2006, so that fits right in with what I was told for her being 5 years old.

Those are STI shift levers.

....wow those bars are high for a road bike! You may find the handling to be a lot better if you lower that stem.

I liked the upright position when I first rode it, but I'm having some elbow pain that I think might be partly due to the height. I'm going back to the LBS to get it adjusted, and to get a new saddle.

She's gonna look even prettier if you get her closer to her racy old self. Hope you have a long and lasting relationship.

Good one, Zen!!
