Well, not so old. I'm taking a 4-week summer school class at the community college 4X a week. It really cuts into my normal riding opportunities so I decided to ride the bike. It's just nine miles, relatively flat with just a big hill at the end- takes me 33-36 minutes. There's no bike lane between towns- so I have about three miles of "share the road" through a canyon- no shoulder but the traffic is really light. 'In town' is another story!

Today I got out of class and surprise- rainy and windy.

I have only seen one other bike on campus. I thought bikes and college students went together? But as I said there is no bike lane (from either direction to the school) and it does take a certain amount of nerve to ride.

Hope you find your bike commute during course weeks enjoyable.

As for lack of more bikes on campus..maybe it's summer time when student enrollment is lower? Or there's a bus system?

Not sure if college and university student modes of transportation have changed in past few decades. Surely, there has been a study done somewhere..

Admittedly whenever I do lock up a bike on a university/college campus outside, I always worry about theft which is slightly irrational if you think about it.

I bring my bike in the classroom. It is not a "bike friendly" campus- there is not even a decent bike rack- just one "wheel bender" near the student store. I know bike lanes are on the city bike plan, and surely some good racks would help, but there is no money in California. This state is a mess.
