Fair price for a Gary Fisher Marlin???

I am "re-buying" a 2002 Gary Fisher Marlin from a friend. The bike was my older son's and he sold it to a friend of mine when he outgrew it in 2005. She has ridden it infrequently and is buying a road bike instead. She has offered to sell it to my younger son. It is in good to very good condition. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is a fair price for the bike?

A 2002 entry level hardtail is not worth that much monetarily. The market for workable commuters keeps the value from dropping off indefinitely though (good thing probably). I'd guess $100-$150. At least that's what I'd expect to see it listed for on craigslist or similar.

I'd agree with 100-150. If the bike was well taken care of, then it's still a beast of a beginner mtb. That was my first mountain bike as well. It had good components that took a beating and didn't fold. The frame is good too-- this is a bike that would be worth tricking out if he really liked mountain biking.

Originally sold for about $450. I'd offer $75. Low end bikes just don't hold their value.
