Does anyone know of a good way to attach an IPod to bike. I have an armband but do not want to wear it now that summer is here (creates unsightly tan lines :) ). Is there a way to attach it to the handlebars so that I can get to it when I need it. Fishing around for my IPod in my back pocket is not working well. I checked the Apple accessories page but did not find anything that would attach to the bike.

Thanks in advance.

I've been looking for something similar. I found some things on ebay, but not sure they'd work for me. I'm in a similar quandry (you do mean the phone- right? at least that's what I'm looking for). :)
If you find something, please post.

Just my humble opinion, but I think it's potentially dangerous to have something attached to you and attached to the bike. Odds are pretty high that you'll forget to remove it when you get off the bike, or worse, if you fall or something, it could be very painful to have them ripped from your ears or helmet. I know people clip a shuffle to their jersey pocket or sleeve hem.

I have a helmet light that I would love to attach the batteries to my bike, but I just know that I'll forget and it will just be a mess if I get off the bike.

I attached my Garmin case by zip-tying it to the handlebar stem. Maybe you can do something similar with your ipod case?

I rip my earbud out of my ear constantly as I ride (and that's with the shuffle clipped to my sleeve). It's soft and doesn't cause any pain or anything except an annoyance that I again pulled the thing out and have to get it back in my ear as I ride.

I wonder if it really works. Has anyone tried it?

Check out www.marware.com. They have cases that attach to handlebars.

You have to get the clip system, but it works well. I use this when I ride the trainer.

Do ipods and bikes really mix? (Except on a trainer?)

FBG..we know....

I hope this thread will not be turned into another mud slinging match...there are tons of threads asking this question & many responses. We don't need 6 more pages about why it's bad. We know & just leave it.

Makbike, how aobut one of these http://www.firebox.com/product/2307/Lavod-MP3-Bike-Speaker-and-Flashlight

But then we get the lectures about how no one else wants to hear what tunes people are listening to as they ride their bike

Playing music as you flash by has got to be safer than having your headphones in, right? ;)

I like the look of this one - I *think* should fit on the bike like a standard bottle cage (but haven't seen it except in pics)

My husband made a holder for his Treo and his air horn. He has made them to fit his iPhone. It's very lightweight and secures with zip ties onto the frame.

OK maybe too much info here, but I put my ipod in my bra, its in a sleeve and it still works after many years of using it., to change songs, volume etc is all easily accesible. I just have one ear plug in, the ear away from any oncoming traffic, eg bikes etc that may overtake me so i can hear them coming. NB, i also put my ipod in my bra for running, so when I was training for ironman last year my ipod did loads of kms in my bra and all is still good.

strange i know:o

Not strange at all! I do that at the gym on the treadmill -I don't do it running outside, for some reason, though!
I like Sundial's husband's thing, too!

I use a Shuffle. Super easy to attach to sleeve and change songs, adjust volume, etc. You can get a good deal on the "old" design, since there's a newer version now. I just got one when dh went to buy a new charger and found out it would only cost $20 more to buy a new shuffle that comes with a charger. So he got a charger and I go a shuffle. :) Sweet!

not that I am debating the use/non use of music while riding....

the bra works well for storage......and now works even better since I have pockets (gotta love cancer...but when god gives you lemons make lemonaid!)....

If you like the bra idea you can get a mastectomy bra with a pocket to keep it in....

On one of the 3-day Breast Cancer walks, a woman had a Big Gulp drink cup in her cleavage. She barely had to tilt her head to sip from the straw. ;)

Sundial, I love that!! Although I don't use an iPod, I have been putting my Blackberry in a small bento box with padding in the bottom. It's not a very good fit, but I think I will try to rig something like you have. I don't like carrying my Blackberry in my jersey pocket because it is so bulky and if I take a spill, I would have one huge bruise.

I have one for my nano 3g and it works great for running. I attach it to my pants, just below the waistband, because it bounces around too much on my shirt.

Surgtech, it's a heat moldable material that is lightweight and stiff like carbon fiber. I can't remember the name of it right off.

Ninabike, he has made several types of holders for our iPods, iPhone, and his Treo. It takes him about 30 minutes or so to make it and he attaches it to the bike frame using zip ties over raquetball tape to prevent scuffs on the bike frame.

Thank you for reminding me that I'm way overdue for having my bQQbs squished yearly. ;) I vote no ipod, listen to the birdies chirp and to all of you singing off key as you pass me because you're listening to the ipod in your bra. ;)

If I can avoid the new storage options I'd like to do that. But it's nice to know that if I survived cancer I could ride, be fabulous and have new storage options. I would look like the real cool kids that don't even use an under seat bag, just what is in the rear jersey pocket or perhaps just tucked in the leg of a bib short (turned up so the logo on the elastic shows).

But wait :p where'd she store that Topeak mini pump? :D :p

I just leave it in my regular running armband, but stick it in my jersey pocket.

I'm one of those that likes to listen to music when I ride. I wear a small, thin & skinny "belly bag" under my jersey with my cell, iPod and car key in it. I've tried putting it all in my jersey pockets but lost my car key that way. I only wear the ear piece away from the traffic and listen to the music with a low volume so I can chit-chat with other riders. Works well for me!

I have this, and I use it when I'm riding away from any traffic or other moving obstacles. It works well. When I don't have it in, it does double duty as an extra water bottle cage. I use it on my trainer because my ear buds just sweat right out!
I would recommend the product. it has a nifty "remote" that attaches to your handles so you don't have to fiddle around much to adjust volume or change the song.
