Bike videos here!

Can you guess where this biking video was shot? Please don't reveal the place if you live here. ;)

If you have a bike video of a notable area, feel free to add it to this thread and the rest of us can guess at the location.

Carolbiker, my biking buddy, is the star of this particular show!:)

I rode with one hand on the camera, one on my handlebars, eyes on the road instead of the screen. I estimated what the camera was probably getting.

Later in our ride we met a runner friend who's training for a 26.2 mile race. We rode beside her and chatted about her mileage in this video, which gives more hints about where in the world we are:

I didn't recognize it from the first video but I absolutely know where it is from the second! I lived there from '85-'91 while going to grad school.

Thanks for keeping the secret... ;) :)

The bystander straddling a bike early in the video is riding a rental from Bike and Roll.

It looks cold.

It's on the lake shore.

Chicago.

Ding, ding, ding! Give that lady a cigar!

I assume that's the Shedd Aquarium she's running by? I never got there :(

Seeing the Sears Tower in the background verified the location.

Hey, that was fun. :) I'll have to try and add one in. I've gotten a bit proficient with the whole holding on with one hand and filming with the other, though most videos end with a few seconds of the ground as I grab the handle bar with both hands.

How did you get that first video to have the pop-up with the song title and a link to buy it from itunes? Just curious. I bought my iMAC (first mac for me) a few months back and I'm addicted to playing with iMovie. :P

I'll take that cigar.

The rental was my big clue. That was the same company i rented from in New York :D

Yep, Chicago was my guess. Good job, Zen! Keep em coming. Guess I"ll have to buy a video camera.

Aren't there some reasonably priced helmet cams?

Hello all,

Glad you liked the videos. They were fun to make and share here.:)

Chicago.

Right you are, Zen!! Good powers of observation and deduction. I hadn't noticed the Bike and Roll sign on the bike. :):D:):D

I'm fresh out of cigars but would like to buy you lunch if you visit Chicago. And I can lend you a bike so you won't have to rent from Bike and Roll!

:DYes, the runner in the second video passes close by the Shedd Aquarium, with its circular expanse of windows directly above the lake. She stops 100 yards or so from the Shedd.

The bicyclist in the first video also rides toward that landmark and the Field Museum. She ends up next to the Shedd while the Field Museum is off to her right.

The Chicago skyline shows up nicely in the last seconds of the first video, but YouTube's advertising quickly obscures it.

How did you get that first video to have the pop-up with the song title and a link to buy it from itunes? Just curious.

YouTube offers a feature called AudioSwap that allows you to record free music over your original sound. Once you upload a video, you can preview hundreds of free music samples for your video.

The pop-up with the song title and the link to buy the song from itunes or Amazon is something YouTube adds automatically. Apparently it's all part of their effort to stop music piracy on videos, besides giving indie artists a chance to showcase their work.

"Turn up the Good" by Baumer has a nice, upbeat quality that I like a lot with the bike video.

My original audio track sounded very bad because the bike ride generated wind. Noisy wind blasts ruined the audio, though it wasn't a very windy day.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out! I like taking videos when riding with folks and yes, the wind makes a heck of a lot of noise even without it being very windy. Then of course I have the added fun of my asthmatic lungs sort of making it sound like an obscene phone call to boot. :) So, I like to add music.

I said Chicago before it even started playing, because I recognized Shedd Aquarium right away. :)

I've never been there, I used my super power of deduction.
That's why I win the cigar:D9253

OK, my turn. My biking buddy is my brother in law in the yellow jacket, though I don't get very close to him in this snippet. :) I seem to have a lot of bits of cycling video on nice rural roads that although lovely, wouldn't be a lot of fun in a 'guess the location' game. :)

That is so cool! :) I'm happy you posted this.

Sounds like you used AudioSwap and got a nice tune!!

I'm guessing it's in your home state of Maryland, where I've never been. Got a pretty good idea of the city if it is MD, but want to keep it a secret.;)

That's not Maryland and it was too short for clues!

I will say...Pittsburgh!

It's probably long enough if you recognize those buildings. I don't!

Thanks to the clues from Zen, it surely does look like Pittsy burg to me! Carol :D

I've never been to Pburgh but I thought I saw mountains and that bridge looks like it could be in Pburgh.
Also it's a pretty big city and likely to have buildings like that.
Not to mention the river.
Am I going to get another cigar?http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb14/zencentury/cigar.jpg
