I've recently noticed some of the spam that my spam catcher gets is describing violent, illegal sexual acts and telling me where I can get video of it. I would think, and maybe I'm wrong, that making videos of these acts, real or otherwise, would be illegal. Do you know if there is some process for reporting this kind of stuff to the authorities?

you mean comments that people are making on your blogs?
if there's an email address associated with it, perhaps... I don't know who i'd report it to. maybe call your local police (not 911) ?

Considering that it's spam, there might not even be any actual videos. Spam is generally a trick to get you to click on something so that the spammer can either gather information or infect your system, and apparently they think there are lots of people out there who really want to see the kind of stuff they claim to have links to.

I agree with Kalidurga, but I also sadly know that such videos exist*.

They are also most likely illegal to sell or distribute.

In Canada there is a team of the federal police that's investigating those things. To my knowledge, they can always use information if they can figure out the IP address behind it. And they sometimes pose as customers to trace the distributors. Giving a call to the non-emergency member of your local police might lead you to find who to contact to pass them the puck.

Good luck.
