Anyone care?

I do because it coincided with my birthday and next year we were considering it be my present again. Plus DH can't get off in May but that is just selfish of us. :)

I guess the snow issues from this year wouldn't be a factor but I like it being tough weather wise.

I am disappointed! It's the same weekend as the Kern Women's Stage Race in Bakersfield (Ca) - and probably alot of other bike races too, road and mountain. Very disappointing. The TOC was a bright spot in February. But I can imagine that the tourism following of the TOC in May would be more popular. But if they brought the TOC through Bakersfield during the Kern Stage race - I don't know if that would be terrific or bad. Probably bad.(no motel rooms and crowded restaurants) Wow. Tokie

Hmm, I have mixed feelings.

On one hand, it might draw more spectators. The weather is generally more cooperative in May -- this past rainy and cold and miserable week or two in NorCal notwithstanding

But yes, for cyclists in general, esp in No Cal, there is so much going on in April and May already, with many popular rides already winding up on the same weekend, it might only add to the scheduling hassle. Especially if the ToC goes through the same area as a particular ride, I could imagine getting permits for certain rides might be a bit more of a hassle than it probably already is.

I can imagine event rides might be moved either earlier or later -- and April/early May is already crowded so hopefully some of the affected events would be moved later.

Ed to add: Ah, I see. They might move the route towards the Sierras on account of the later date, with a potential mountaintop finish. The dates are May 16-23. Eh, might not be as much of a conflict as I originally though. This could be cool.

I kind of liked having it in February...it was around our anniversary, a couple of years ago we made it our anniversary present to spend the weekend in Pasadena for that year's finish...but then *I* wasn't out racing in the rain for days.

I think they wanted May so they could go into the Sierras, which will be exciting. I hope they bring it back to San Diego again. We were up on Palomar and it was very cool to be inches away from them.
