tailwind while drafting

DH and I were out riding yesterday and had a bit of a tailwind/crosswind. I made a comment to him about having a tailwind and he didn't think we had one. So it made me wonder, if the lead rider blocks headwinds while drafting, would the reverse be true so the lead rider wouldn't get the full effect of the tailwind from riders blocking it behind him/her? Just wondering if somehow I hindered his feeling the full effect of the tailwind. Any thoughts?

As the lead, you will notice the difference. Look at your speed and feel the effort you are putting out. Yes there is a big difference.

20MPH head wind and the lead will really work hard to maintain speed. 20MPH tail wind and you notice that there is no breeze while riding and you are not fighting the air around you. just my personal experience.

I have noticed the same thing and wondered the same thing (about the reduction of tailwind if you're in front. I know that my bike feels tailwinds more than others (more upright) - can't tell if I get less benefit from it if people are "blocking" it behind me.
