I did a milestone ride today. GMR (Glendora Mountain Road) is a common climbing ride around these parts. Dh does it all the time and it's been one of those rides my riding buddy and I have been planning to do for a while now. We almost did it twice, but both times didn't because of an issue with me. (Not recovered from previous hard ride or sick). So, today was the day we finally conquered it! And we didn't just go to "the shack" as many people do, and turn around. We kept going and did the whole thing to Mt. Baldy Road. It was 43 miles with 4425 feet of climbing. The most I've done since the Solvang Century in March, which was about the same amount of climbing and the most I'd ever done in one ride ever. This time I did that much climbing within a 34 mile stretch. I'M AMAZING!!!!!!! :D Hee hee!

Thank you for your support. :) I couldn't believe I didn't get even one "adda girl"! So I had to get the ball rolling. Hee hee!
Smilingcat, I couldn't possibly go do hill repeats in my condition. I have now fully grasped what the meaning of DOMS is. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. OUCH!!! I have experienced this before, and dh has explained it to me before, but I didn't retain it. MAN oh man were my legs sore yesterday, I think more than ever before. They still are, but I no longer have to go down the stairs backwards or lower myself onto the toilet seat by holding onto something!
I have learned that I simply take longer than some people to recover from strenuous rides. Took me about two weeks to fully recover from Solvang, while my friend was good to go in a couple of days. Same with this GMR ride we just did. Me ... OUCH! Her ... not so much. This is so not fair.

I can't even fathom what long hill climbing is like, but I'll take your word for it! Atta girl, Jiffer!
I do know wind, though
