What do you love and hate about running.

I really do love running...really, I love it. I love how simple it is. I love the sound of my feet. I love being on a trail in the spring. I actually love running in a warm rain. I love the way you feel when you are done ( I think it is different than any other sport. Did i mention I love running?

I hate injuries. I hate the quest for the perfect shoe. I hate when i can't run more than I hate missing out on any other type of excercise. I actually hate that I don't think I can replace it in any way. Did I mention that I hate running. I hate blisters taht show up for the first time when you have been wearing the shoes forever. Did I mention I hate injuries?

What do you love and hate about running?

Love: being out in nature, challenging my body, the sense of freedom, not needing any fancy equipment, being able to just go right out the door and run if I want to, exploring trails, feeling agile when maneuvering around rocks and roots on the trail, getting my mind off daily stresses, feeling the sense of accomplishment and calmness after finishing a good run, the way it keeps me in shape to do strenuous hikes, the fact that it helps me be healthier both physically and mentally

Hate: the frustratingly slow progress of the work I have been doing on my form to prevent injuries (after getting ITB issues), the fact that I am such a slow runner compared to everybody else, times when I can't run b/c of injuries, weather or not having time, dealing with the heat in the summer

Love- the simple act of movement. Pure and on a good day everything flows, your joints bones and muscles seem to work effortlessly. It is truly a beautiful thing.

Hate- Injury and the fear of it. Right now I'm only running on the treadmill, and with bad knees and a previous stress fracture, I'm not convinced I should run outside even though I would love to.

Love - Getting up early and watching the sun come up and the early morning peacefulness, being able to do something I couldn't do 15 years ago, feeling my feet going and going and going, the endorphins!

Hate - Not wanting to get up early in the morning, the occasional reminder that after all that running I'm "not fast enough for ______" (How long did it take you? Uhmm - oh -- hmm - well, good for you ---), injuries and threats/fears of, the occasional hassles with traffic --

Love: the way it makes me feel, what it does for my body and mind, its simplicity

Hate: that life circumstances keep me from running more

Love:
--seeing the sun come up and hearing the neighborhood roosters crowing (and who would have thought there were so many urban chicken--keepers at the slum's edge??)
--reaching the top of a hill and starting down the other side

Hate:
--strong winds
--the sad look on my dog's face when I head out the door; he really thinks he should come along (but he's getting elderly and arthritic... he still gets his walks, at a stately pace)

LOVE - Simply that I am able to do it. The satisfaction of completing a 10 mile and feeling just fine afterwards. Seeing my neighborhood close up and at a slower pace then I experience through my car's windshield. It's also nice to hear my dh brag to people about how active and in shape he thinks I am.

HATE - Those days when I just don't even enjoy a 2 mile run - and for no apparent reason. A windy uphill run. When the training schedule calls for a longer run and I'd rather be on my bike instead. Somedays there just isn't enough time to bike to and from work and still get in a 8-10 mile run afterwards.
