The kay to the shore, 1600m, but they called it 1500, cross current most of the time, waves, finally learned to breathe only on the side the waves were not coming to not drink so much seawater. 29 minutes! good time! Bike, straight back and forth, but with sharp turn abouts, and sudden tropical rains, causing several accidents. Good time, was still first in my group. Started the run, along the boardwalk on brick, very very uncomfortable, you could feel each step. Was passed by most of the age group category women by the end of the first circuit. It was hot and humid, but next to the beautiful crystalline sea...so not so bad, my best time yet, 2:50 (last year, same race, did 3:15). Really enjoyed the swim, got distracted by beautiful fish, enjoyed the bike, and wondered why the heck I do triathlons during the run....

Hey congrats :) & *clap* *clap* for a job well done.

What fishies did you see on the swim & were they the man eating kind?

When is your next event?

Well done!

The location looks lovely - I'm going to be doing my first Olympic dist off the western coast of Ireland soon and I really wish I was doing it somewhere like that instead. :)

thanks to all, yes, I am glad I don't have to swim off the coast of Ireland, swam there once in July and thought I would freeze my booty off. But most of our races are in cold mountain lakes, so we wear wetsuits for them. Otherwise, I do have some ideal training conditions, except rain 300 days a year, but it is only a part of the day, comes down like anything for 20 minutes, you look for something to stand under, and then it just stops...you get back on the bike, and keep going.... We are 2400M altitude, so it is chilly and cloudy, but never lower than 50 or higher than 70, so no freezing like the midwest, not too much over sweating like the southwest, except going up to 3000+ meters on our bikes.

Congrats on the race and the great drop in time! Those bricks look painful to run on!
