A BIANCHI!! Yes - don't ask me why but I had the feeling I'd see one soon and I sure did this morning.
This one has some rust on the frame and needs a bit more work. It's also a double but someone once loved it and logged some miles (I think) from the aerobars and toe clips on it. They also had a second wheel with a different cassette on it so I took that too.
My first thought was to bring it to the wrench but then I straddled the bike. It's my size!!!:D Now what's a girl with 3 bikes already gonna do? I would guess this is a steel frame - do you think I need a touring bike????
Maybe I missed my calling - can one be a professional garbage picker?!

At the curb. It's spring cleaning here and you can put pretty much anything by the road once a year and the city will pick it up. So I've rescued 2 bikes this week.
And my neighbor, who is a sanitation worker, told me I could go to the landfill and look. He says they pick the bikes out and keep them all together for people looking. I feel a field trip coming on.....

I'll take 2 kthxbai.
I kinda want a beater bike to commute to school and back, specially in the rain...I'm keeping my eye out for one...if I have a spare road bike then I'll let the roomie use it so we can actually go for rides.
And yes I have 3 more bikes...but they're in CT.
EDIT: btw beautiful find...everytime I go to my LBS in CT I stop and drool over the B's...I think that color alone makes you stop and go...ooOOoO

Nice bike! It's hard to tell from the pics, but that may be a Bianchi Veloce or similar, which would be a good find indeed. What's the parts spec on it?

Becky, I'm not sure - I don't speak bike!
It's pouring out right now. I'm glad I got it home and in the garage before it got wet. I'll check later and see if I can figure out anything else about it.

*grins* No worries! And I wouldn't go back out in the rain either!
I'm just curious what the derailleurs say on them and how many cogs it has in the back. IME, that's sometimes enough to identify a bike. Also, many Bianchis have a little sticker on the seat tube right below the top tube joint that identifies the steel that was used to make it. Yours appears to be made from one of Columbus's steel tubesets- that's good stuff.
I love classic steel, especially Bianchis :)

You found that on the curb??
A classic Bianchi in Celeste green. I would keep that and enjoy the pleasures of steel.
You're a bike magnet. :D

It doesn't have eyelets for racks, so touring would probably not be the best use. But it is a sweet find!

Our dump has a special area for bikes but they have strict rules that you can't take anything out. I don't know where the bikes go.

Good Job Dar ! Get out and rescue all those poor unwanted bikes and get them a new home just in time for some spring riding.
That last one is definitely a keeper. Having it fit you is a sign.
There is no such thing as too many bikes anyhow, is there? At least that's what I've tried to convince my husband ... although so far he's not buying it.

Wow..what treasures.
maybe your experience, should be a big reminder to any local cycling organization that is non-profit and refurbishes bikes for kids/people in need/learn bike mechanic skills: have a notice placed in their local papers every spring, to remind folks where they can drop off their used bikes that they no longer need.
Honestly, alot of people don't know where to donate their used bikes and I think some genuinely would make some effort, if they knew where to go.

I was with a client today and saw 2 kids bikes by the curb. I almost put her threw the window when I hit the brakes but there were too many cars to safety stop:p
Maybe my loser guy magnet has been reprogramed to be a bike magnet!

It's a nice find.
Unfortunately, most of the abandoned bikes around here had been stolen and ditched.

Becky - it is Columbus steel. Two stickers on it saying it and the derailleur is Quatro.
And Zen, I do know that cars turn around - that's how I got the Ross, lol. Check out todays find....I so can NOT believe this week!

I'm not testing mine to find out - I've had enough of loser guys.
