Hello,
Does anyone know of a cream to use after a long ride. I've been off the bike for health reasons...cancer, have now recovered and am back to riding. Several years ago Johnny G spinning site had a after ride cream. I soothed the saddle area and really worked! I've been to their site and can't find it, they may not make it anymore. But until my body's vaginal area gets use to the saddle, I am looking for some relief. Anybody have any ideas?
thank you,
Artemisia

hmm... it depends if your saddle is ok for you, but that might be something you need to look at in the long term.
any ointment that promotes skin healing will help, I use something that has quite a lot of vitamin A in it.
You might want to put some of that on (or rather a lot of it) before the ride. There are chamois creams out there specifically sold for the purpose, but I just use a lanolin-based wound healing ointment. And I put some fresh stuff on after the shower if I did chafe.

Don't know if it exists in the States, but a lot of people in the UK (myself included) swear by Sudocream (both during and after the ride), if you can't get sudocream there must be something similar under a different name, it's basically an antiseptic zink based cream for nappy rash - therefore can be found in the baby department. Not expensive at all and also works for minor burns, eczema, bed sores, surface wounds, acne and chillblains... Only problem is it has a tendancy to leave white smeary marks everywhere if you are not careful (although they come out in the wash).
Have you heard of Paw Paw cream? Its really good.. You can use it on lots of things, chafings, cuts, burns etc etc. Its all natural to I'm pretty sure. You buy it in a little red tub. I definately rate paw paw cream, its great! Might be worth a try... :)

Nubutte.
It's sold as a chamois cream, which it really doesn't work for me when I've tried it as a lubricant, but it's a REALLY AWESOME healing salve with calendula, shea butter, and all kinds of nice stuff.
