Wow, my friend's son has Asperger's and I can only imagine how scary that would be for them. I imagine the parents were seriously spooked, but at least he was safe and apparently had a grand old time! And now that he's safe and sound he's going to have one heck of a story to tell for the rest of his life!

I also officially dig Australia because they say "mum" and use it in the paper. Rock on!

I was thinking of doing the opposite thing actually- biking from DC back to st. paul.

Wonder if the exploratory trip might inspire him later as an adult.

A boyfriend (now her hubby) of a close friend and his buddy rode 300 kms. in 1 day, in southern Ontario on major roads and highways during a humid summer. This is just after they finished their postgrad work. Granted they were older, but they did no previous cycling training nor did they wear helmets. Regular soft soled running shoes. No lycra either.

My best friend rode off to his grandparents once... on his tricycle. They caught up with him after 5 kms. :D:D:D He was barely 3 years old. The whole town was in a state of alarm. :D:D:D
