I have wondered from time to time as we would like to ride the Erie Canal one day. I now wish I kept my aluminum Dolce for times like this. I don't think I want to ride my carbon on that type of terrain for fear of rocks running the paint.
I have a mtn bike that I have not used in years. I just like the gearing so much better on a rode bike, especially for longer distances.
I am very impressed on the type of trail you rode on with your Cannodale. Nice bike btw.

JoAnn...I was on my Cervelo R3 when I went up there on Thursday. I was so nervous about tipping over and cracking the top tube. I didn't want to chance it again and I'm so glad that I didn't. Not that the CAAD9 is a throw away bike by any means, but it came home on Sunday with a few scratches that I wouldn't want on my Cervelo!

Cross bike! I love mine for just these occasions. When we hit a dirt road, it's the only time I can pass the men on my ride :D

Thank you...I was lacking some motivation, but I'm finding my way out of the funk!

I have wavered between mtb and cross for a while now and I'm ordering a mountain bike today. It was a hard decision, but I want to get REALLY dirty, so I went the mountain bike route...lol. I'm not above trying to figure out how to get some more beefy tires or some 650b's on the CAAD9, if I can though! I just can't justify a mountain AND cross bike right now!
